interesting insight into the UK charging network, range anxiety, and the brilliance of the Tesla charging network. His conclusion is the iPace is a run-around car, and an expensive one for the purpose.

i like Harry’s reviews.

I like Harry but hes a bit of a curmudgeon with evs, saying that the UK charging network is pants esp the motorway service center ones (ecotricity?) and nothing like Teals network.

It's ok for bridging with a short-ish charge. But the Superchargers are definitely much better. I added 55kWh to my Model 3 yesterday in 40 minutes. That's an average of about 75kw.

Note that Bjorn is breaking the law frequently since he reaches 75 miles per hour / 120 KPH speed limit; the limit in Norway is 110 KPH. He also driving in cold weather, which is not great for EV's.

Off subject the common mid-west speed limit in the US is 75 MPH / 120 KPH. One area in Texas has a 85 MPH / 136 KPH limit

Maybe someone in New Zealand would like to do a EV versus petrol, and post it on Youtube.

That video is about how quickly you can drive 1000km. That's longer than from Wellington and to the northern tip of the north island. That's not of much interest to me (or most people), most people seldom do those kinds of trips.

Let's do the kind of trip you would do ever day and see the costs of commuting in and out of Auckland or Wellington, I know which car will win the cost competition (in terms of running costs) and both would use the same amount of time. If you look at it over a month or two, the EV* will win that commute battle, because you don't have to waste time (and money) at a gas station.

* Assuming an EV with a decent range. So that is to say not an old EV with limited range.

I do around 60km each day for work which costs me 90c in electricity 🙂 Not having to go out of my way to the petrol station on the way home from work when I just want to get home is one of the biggest perks lol

An utter travesty. This power-train is already out of date. After years of waiting for an EV Mini, we've gotten one with old bits that are already obsolete. It also offers Leaf-like specs - a small battery is fine with a fast charging rate. This doesn't have one. The ID3 will monster this thing.

Maybe, but from Mini's point of view, it helps reduce the all important Fleet average co2 emissions.

But back on topic of the Car Advice review, they say\guess that the EV Mini will be priced around the same as the ICE Cooper S. In Oz, using Sydney as my postcode a ICE Cooper S 3 Door is $45,438.30 using the Mini Oz site

In NZ, the Mini NZ site quotes a ICE Cooper S 3 Door from $44,500.

Then if Mini NZ can keep the pricing of the EV Cooper SE the same as a ICE Cooper S (like the Ozzies are guessing), that's not too bad for a new EV. Time will tell.

I really like the look of the Honda. Price and range still exclude me, but I'm beginning to be won over that EVs will have mainstream appeal in the not too distant future (when pricing aligns more closely to ICE and battery tech improves, both of which will happen).

The Honda from what I recall, is not far off the ICE price? Maybe it was the Mini. In any case these two are too small, but interesting. But other mainstream brands are not, so it makes me wonder, how expensive are the batteries, actually? Plus that an ICE engine and transmission is far more complex than an EV engine and no transmission. Plus one car last year, the price between the lesser kW and higher kW was just a measly 7k

Will continue to wait

Cells are roughly $120 per kwh now, the cost of them is no longer an excuse for the high prices IMO.
