Looks like the LDV eDeliver 3 will be the first of the decent utility EV options here with a somewhat decent starting price

GLMD cut the price of the EV80, (its big brother) to $50K in 2019.... so it eDeliver would need to be under this....

Those ripples are likely to hit New Zealand, with climate change minister James Shaw already urging action before the country becomes a dumping group for the UK’s ICE vehicles.
I'm not sure why we would be. Surely the ban is only new registrations of ICE vehicles, and existing vehicles can continue to be driven until they naturally reach end of life? Besides which, any ICE vehicle already on a UK road in 2020 is going to be worth less than the cost of freight to NZ by 2030.

Plus the fact that they may still be using salt to deice their roads so you'll get an imported rust bucket in a couple of years.

Vehicles are still going to have to meet emissions rules like any other imports, he could increase compliance to Euro VI which would mean we're getting the most emissions-friendly ICE vehicles only - sometimes the Greens imply that it is total open season on importing anything you want and that's not the case at all.

I've been on Geekzone over 16 years..... Time flies....
Linuxluver: To be fair to the Greens, it WAS like that when they said those things. The emissions changes were only announced recently.
We've had minimum Euro IV compliance for some time now - at least four years now - for anything newer than 20 years old.
There really is little government love for EVs in Australia ....
Victoria have proposed to follow SA and slug a RUC on EV drivers ... 2.5c/km...
Although on the flip side it would be cheaper than NZ if our EV exemption expires at the end of 2021 (7.6 cents//km)

No may about it. It's that or try and drive on skating rinks.
Some interesting comment on peak oil and the ongoing advances of EVs over ICE vehicles. The changing attitudes of the major oil companies is also quite telling: https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2020-peak-oil-era-is-suddenly-upon-us/

Although the term "peak oil" has been flipped on its head,
Originally it was a supply constraint that would simply force the price of oil through the roof and cripple economies that were reliant on imported oil..
This has not been proved to be a false assertion and peak oil now refers to demand destruction driving down the price below the cost of capital for future exploration , resulting in a decline in production..
There will be a bounce back in oil consumption Post COVID as national and international travel returns, but the trend to electrification will continue, and will continue to pull down demand.
