Another +1 for repair. It's a low mile car, and that seems a decent price for a replacement transmission if, as mentioned above, it includes full installation (and warranty?) Check the installation includes flushing the lines and trans cooler where debris from the failed trans will still be lurking.
Unfortunately non running older cars generally have very low resale values. A friend and I buy a few non runners (usually Subarus) each year as projects. We expect to pick up early 00's models which in running condition would be $3-4K, for max $3-400 each, and generally ignore the owner's assessment of repair costs..
