IMO they are alright looking, but very conventional looking, and that is probably the point. There are certainly worse looking cars. EVs excluding hybrids , have traditionally have looked like EVs , ugly, which has turned people off them.

It's only relatively recently that hybrids often look just like a 'normal' car - with all earlier models, and still some current ones, this was certainly not the case. But don't forget with both BEVs and hybrids it's not just about looking different for the sake of it, but also a consequence of a focus on fuel-efficient design etc.

As some examples: the gen one of the Honda Insight was butt-ugly (and it was no surprise it looked so similar to the early Priuses); the Prius Prime is one of the ugliest current cars on the road (IMHO I quickly add!).

This spreadsheet by "vedaprime" shows the ships arriving in in Auckland from Long Beach. Hopefully there are Teslas on some or all of these.

No electric car can compete with the nissan juke or the citroen bubblewrap car for uglieness. Far from it.

The Juke is an "interesting" car. :-)

More broadly, it's in the same design family as the March, Tiida and LEAF (up to 2017). Nissan was trying to do something interesting, but most people are boring, so that both focused their potential market and limited it at the same time. :-)

And this is where Musk and his team have made a difference. By making good looking vehicles with lots of extra features, they are able to let people look past the price premium and limitations and justify spending that bit extra.

Nissan could have led the way. They make the GTR after all. If they had kicked on where they started with the Leaf, who knows, there may have been a real competitor for Tesla. If you ask someone to name an EV, I can pretty much guarantee the brand they will say first.

I always thought the Juke was butt-ugly but then I bought a Leaf so there is that and I'm happy with it.

I suspect even with the generous bump in range from the Model 3 that plan B [and C] will still be kept in the car with respect to charging?

The Little Elves at the MoT have been busy and the EV tables for October are now up

Monthly Model 3 registrations dropped back to 79 , I'm guessing  there was still a bit of waitlist filling, so registrations might fall a bit more next month....??

There might be another spike this month. Since the big push last month Tesla has been focusing on Europe deliveries. No Long Range AWD Model 3's have been delivered in NZ yet and all the October deliveries have been pushed to November/December.

There's a backlog. If the cars don't arrive, they can't be delivered. :-)

My own order has been pushed back a month. The cars are going elsewhere at the moment.

If they are battery constrained it makes sense to prioritise SR+ and Performance.

They can make 3 x SR+ cars with the same batteries needed for 2 x Long Range or Performance.
.
In NZ they get $227K for 3 x SR+, $210K for 2 x Performance, but only $192K for 2 x LR.

Tesla just called (1:40pm Saturday) and offered me a Stealth Performance Model 3 in my colour with the 18" Aero wheels I want. They'll write off the $12K price difference. The person who ordered it is unable to receive it and the car is already here.

My answer was "Yes".

So.... In about a week.

Yay!

Thanks. It's unlike any car I've ever owned before in terms of performance. I'm going to be super careful........ :-)

Nice, sounds exciting!

I think I'd be having 'night before xmas as a kid' flashbacks if I was waiting for one.
