take the car to final touch and let them do the touch up for you. As per others, recommend ppf on the front to avoid more chips.

Thanks guys for the recommendations! I will get in touch with duraseal who did the ceramic coating in the first instance and see if they can touch up and also get PPF done on the bonnet. I am not too comfortable with doing the touch up myself as I've never done it before and probably don't want to stuff it up especially when the car is 2 months old.

Batman:

does PPF protect forceful sharp gravel impacts?

PPF will not provide 100% protection as some impacts can be very forceful, but it does an excellent job. It comes down to whether you are happy to touch up after 5 years. We have 2 SUV's and barely any nicks after 3 years ownership due to height of SUV as front grill takes most of the brunt of stone flying. Tesla's have no grill (not even a fake) so are more prone to stone chips.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Supercheap do exact match touch up paints for about $25. Takes them about 10 mins to make it up for you.

if the bare metal is exposed do you need any special base layer?

how many layers of touch up do you apply?

for what it's worth, I've had very good experiences in the past fixing minor paintwork damage (chips/scratches) with kits from Color N Drive: https://colorndrive.com/

Very simple to use, and very effective.

Thanks kiwi64, how's the touch up quality from this product?
I might give this a go. You mentioned it's quite easy to do so I'm guessing even someone really inexperienced can apply it as well?

That's basically the same as the supercheap offering.

Any idea why some of the 2023 Model Ys in inventory have different pricing? Both 'new' and made in 2023, but some are $72k vs $77k

The obvious difference I saw was enhanced autopilot vs standard, which is a $5,700 option for those without.

Some of them have Enhanced Autopilot, which is a $5700 extra

There is a price difference for any colours other than white, so the extra price on the grey above isnt half bad compared to the white, if you include extra price for colour and enhanced autopilot.

Since Tesla can set the cars up however they like it is a little strange that they have decided to add enhanced autopilot and charge for it. Feels like they are pushing people to buy the enhanced autopilot to get the colour they want quickly.

PS: Not seeing the $77,797 grey Model Y for sale through existing inventory in Auckland at the moment. And all the cars in existing inventory that I can see at the moment does not have the enhanced autopilot already installed.

Yep, that screenshot was taken a minute or so before I posted it, and neither of those cars is now listed. (I included the white one, even though starting from a lower base cost, simply because it was right next to the grey!)

Every used M3 on Telsa's Auckland stock has always had Enhanced Autopilot. It's as if they add this upgrade to any second hand stock.
