As with the Model 3, the Model Y has had another drop today. You can now get it pre-rebate for $69,587 or $62,572 after the rebate. Like the Model 3, this is around a $4k drop pre-rebate.

Enjoying a Model Y Long Range in Norway at the moment. Has considerably more omph from 0 than the RWD. Still not enough that I would trade it for the RWD that I drive in NZ.

What sort of real world range are you getting out of the MYLR? As an experienced Tesla driver your evaluation is of more value than a car reviewer.

I am not a great hyper-miler really, so not the right person to ask.

That said, I think the EV-database have a pretty accurate number though, with about 435KM real world range. The average of 172 Wh/km matches well with that I have seen on Tessie for my drives.

BTW: What I envy the most from Teslas in Norway is the new Quicksilver colour. That is truely beautiful.

Yes! That Quicksilver looks awesome.

I can't say the existing colour range available here is all that great - But that does look cool - From the Berlin plant I guess.

I thought I saw somewhere that there was a more 'candy apple' red being made available somewhere - maybe the USA?

EDIT: Midnight Cherry Red - Also from the Berlin plant. They have super hi-tech paint plant there that can do "up to 13 layers for depth and dimension".

I haven't seen the Midnight Cherry Red on the road yet. So can't say if it is as nice as the photos make it look. But I have a feeling it is a lot nicer than the red that is available in NZ at the moment. THe current NZ red also look really nice in the Tesla photos, but I haven't liked it when I have actually seen it.

So it’s nearly a year since we got our MY, and 11,500kms later we’re still loving it… what I’m not so keen on is the ~~25%~~21% increase in insurance premiums, having got the renewal notice this morning. Totally get that increases are sadly inevitable, but just wondering if there are any particular insurance companies that may offer better value for money (the car’s currently with AA), especially if they also include the roof in their glass cover (though I assume this will typically come with higher premiums).

Are there other companies that other MY or M3 owners here would recommend I check out?

No answers for you but I am definitely interested in what you find out - I'm with AA as well, and my MY insurance will be coming up for renewal mid Sept so I guess I shouldn't be surprised if the premium they're asking jumps up.

From $1298 up to $1573 (sorry, it’s a 21% increase).

I’ve got a few quotes this morning: very similar premium from AMP at $1592 (I think same underwriter as AA?); $1685 from Star; $2185 from TM Insurance.

I’ll also give our main insurer (FMG) a call to see if they’ve joined the 21st century and will now insure Teslas…

We're with AMI and with our multi cover (house, contents, 2 cars and lifestyle block) our Polestar2 just cost us $1,685 for $78K agreed value cover, which was up from $1,445.38 last year with no claims (so 16.6% up). House cover also rose this year which I assume is a general thing with all insurance due to increased weather related claims.

ETA: We have a $500 excess on the Polestar. Also we were advised to an agreed value that was inclusive of the CCD as in the future that reduction on price will likely not exist. We have also discussed reduced value cover on vehicles previously but the reduction in agreed value doesn't make much impact on the premium payable (and certainly nowhere near proportional to the value drop), presumably due to standing admin costs and the impact of included 3rd party cover.

@jonathan18 Insurance for my Model 3 with Tower is $1585/yr as of a couple of weeks ago. That's with a $750 excess.

That was for the full $73k of agreed value, even though I got mine discounted at $68k, so I probably could have dropped the premium a bit by choosing a smaller amount of cover.

Tower do not cover panoramic sunroofs under their zero excess glass replacement option. I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it.
