RunningMan:

Model 3 driver fined in Germany for using touch screen controls

Tesla's touchscreen car controls should be treated as a distracting electronic device, a German court has decided.

A driver found himself facing a road ban after being involved in a crash in the rain.

The Tesla automatically started its wipers - but manually controlling the speed was done through the large central touchscreen, rather than a lever on the steering wheel.

The driver was punished under the same rules as using a phone while driving.

Meh the guy was an idiot its not the cars fault if you've ever seen how you can change the wiper speed (if you need too).

Well, if a bit of wood is good enough for Morgan...

I mean...it's a piece to protect the fins from being crushed from the strapping. Does it really matter what it is if it does the job?

From a practical point of view, as long as it lasts the distance.

From what I have read there are two types of 'wood' bits. One that looks like wood, and the other which is grey. Maybe they should have stuck with the grey option 😀

From a perception point of view, the improvements they do make as part of their continual improvement model shouldn't just include the criteria that it must work and last, but also what will the customer perception be? (reputation damage consideration).

I'm positive Tesla will learn, and learn quick, which is why I admire them and their products. Imagine where they will be in 10 years after all this learning and changing.

Its not really wood, its a plastic corner protector designed to look like wood.

Normally a clear plastic corner protector was used. A assume that there was some kind of supply issue with those, so they swapped out with a that could be got at the local hardware store, in order to avoid holding up production.

Should note that the area is not normally visible to the owner. I would not be concerned if it was my car.

The videos of model y's with water leaking into the cabin when water is put on the roof is much more of a concern.

An example of a 160,000km Model 3

The battery is still basically like new and as expected, the expenses are minimal compared to an ICE vehicle.

My Model 3 is at 22,000KM and has 10% degredation. I often wonder how authentic these articles are.

Well, the screenshots don't lie 🙃

Have you re-calibrated your BMS?

Are you on rated or typical setting? Also, in Winter it does show 10% off the usual and goes back up in summer.

I got the data from Scan my Tesla using an OBD scanner. And it also matches the data I am seeing in Teslafi which has been tracking the car since it was new.

Both of these methods rely on what the BMS is calculating, though. It's pretty common if the car is always sleeping with the same charge level then the BMS never gets a good sample of the packs capacity. The key point is that the BMS can only do its calculations while the car is asleep (ie. Sentry mode is turned off and the car isn't actively charging). This thread goes into quite a bit of detail on how you can trigger the BMS to recalculate its capacity.

With lockdown and the car mostly sitting idle for 6 weeks the range mine thought it had available at max dropped to around 450km. It started to recover a bit after lockdown ended and I was able to use it more but after I followed through with what's mentioned in that linked thread it returned to around 490km range again

Very interesting, will be cool to see them execute on this.

As they said its not one maybe working in a lab breakthrough, but a series of already working changes that need scaling up to mass volume.

They've already made 10'000s of cells and have them in test cars on the roads and have done for months, Sandy Munroe is wetting himself over it all.

Should give the switch to sustainability a good old nudge.
