I have purchased the dongle that allows me to query the SOH and cell statistics. So if option is battery replacement, it will be closely monitored.

If there was no response, was ready to reject the car in its entirety and return it. And failing that head off to the motor vehicle tribunal.

Boeingflyer: What a bunch of twats. The funny thing is that I was pretty close to buying an outlander a few weeks back and just got busy. Then I saw this post and I won't even give it another thought, even with their 2021 model which may be better and have a better warranty but the way they have treated you - no way.

It may only be one sale to them but it's one less and more money going into another car dealers pocket (mmm Tesla, ha ha).

Further to this, took a Tesla for a test drive yesterday, will probably order one by the end of the week. Outlander is defiantly out of the question now.

I’m of a similar mind now - my next car purchase will only be from a car manufacturer that has a proven track record of EV/PHEV/Hybrid durability… that’s looking like Lexus or Tesla.

My interactions with Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand indicate that they’re not prepared to stand behind their PHEV’s durability in any meaningful way. Given their dismissal of 65% battery life after 4 years as not a fault.

Had an update today from the dealership. There are some serious discussions (with outside support being involved) occurring with Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand as this could set a precedence for PHEV and EV cars moving forward. I haven’t seen the comms but if it’s anything like what Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand sent me, they’ll be very reluctant to entertain any battery repairs or servicing.

Am due a more detailed response tomorrow but have been assured in no uncertain terms that the dealership finds this concerning and will reach a resolution. Provided that the dealership is working to get a resolution ironed out, I’m prepared to give them the time to hammer this out.

Just closing this out: an agreement in principle has been reached and I am very pleased with the dealership for their assistance in this matter. I can’t go into too much detail but fair to say that the concerns previously discussed have been acknowledged and recognised in this agreement.
