It's FIFA season so good reason to get more controllers and get the party started!

Yep, through USB and bluetooth.

Can't say anything about non Steam games, but Steam will pick up the controllers natively and allow the games to use them

Yes, it's the Sony Days of Play promotion that runs through to Sund this week I believe. Some good games on sale as well at retail stores and the PS Store.

Yeah, I saw on PriceSpy this is the cheapest the controllers have ever been, so picked one up for my boys even though they don’t have a PlayStation yet! (they’re having to save for it, with us matching them $ for $)

Speaking of PlayStations: can I ask advice as to whether it’s worth purchasing the Pro over the Slim (even if just in terms of longevity)?

And is it worth buying second-hand over new? The consoles seem to generally go for quite high prices on TM (relative to new), with the cheaper ones typically from some pawn broker (Cash Converters etc), which I really don’t want to touch. Thanks for any feedback.

All the people I know, and myself have had the fan go noisy in the old first gen PS4 so I wouldnt be getting one used. Its also a complete disassembly to get to the fan to clean it or whatever.

Yep my PS4 had the noisy fan thing happen. Not an easy process but managed to pull it apart, clean out the dust and reapply some new heatsink goo and put it back together. I did end up with 4 extra screws after I had finished though.....this does not affect the PS4 in any way though hahahaha. It is a bit quieter but still noticeable. Definitely get new. The Pro would be worth it if you have a 4k tv for all the extra shiny goodness, otherwise I don't think I'd bother.

Thanks for the advice; New it is for sure, then! Is there any sense the Pro or Slim have improved on the fan issues over the original?

We’d be buying a new TV at the same time, and plan on getting just a Veon 55” 4K model - we have no plan on letting the boys have the console in the HT! So, yeah, the TV will be 4K, so will it be worth getting the Pro?

Yes to the Pro. I've got a 4k OLED tv and keen to get a Pro once I can convince the wife that it is 'necessary' laughing

Could someone define noisy fan, is it at the 'PS4 seems a trifle more voluble today dude' or the 'who let the F-35 in the room' end of the scale.

Thanks again for the advice - my preference was to go for a new Pro, so good to have this validated. (The kids will want to settle for something cheaper as it would mean they’d get it quicker!)

F35 loud, as in WTF is that noise and why do I have to turn the tv up so loud that the neighbours can hear it, loud.

Cheers for that, just picked up another one for the house hold. Sony build 'em tough but our current one may be about to lose the battle with the toddler.

Oh well, haven't got that far yet, and after that description am hoping we never do smile

What would be the best to use with my Windows 10 PC?

I play fortnite and mostly driving games. I am leaning towards the Xbox controller but then the PS has integrated batteries..
