This is an interesting story on this very topic http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/9646054/Paying-for-someone-elses-mistake

Their advertising probably doesn't help them, by calling it a 'Crazy Sale', so you would expect crazy deals of similar type. If it had occurred during a non sale period, then it could be seen more clearly as being a genuine error, if that is infact the case.

I saw this thread and ordered early this morning at about 4:30am and it was still saying "Hot Price $48" and "In stock and Ready to ship"
Got a an email confirmation shortly after for my order. Just saying because someone said their stock levels get updated at 2:15am, and I ordered after that.

They have a big banner advertising "LONG WEEKEND CRAZY DEALS" on their main page, and you find a crazy deal, order it, then they cancel it .....

In the end its a gamble - JB can legally pull out of a price mistake, but they may end up honouring it.

And referring to that article, it even says:

The "bottom line" in New Zealand is that shoppers cannot force retailers to sell them goods at prices that have been set accidentally low, Edwards says.

No-one would want an otherwise responsible company to go out of business just because one careless worker had put the decimal place in the wrong place in an advert.

I agree, but the difference is JB offered, customer purchased, JB took the money, this has formed the contract JB are now legally obliged to supply said goods.

In the end JB did agree to sell the goods and took the money, just like any contract between 2 parties once the contract is formed one party can't just decide to return the money and say "i'm out". What about if the purchaser decided that they couldn't afford the goods and returned them, would JB then have to give the money back?....no

Took the money is a bit grey in online shopping. It's not like the shopkeeper takes the money and changes his mind.

I bought online a $400 desktop for $10 a little while ago.
The funds came out of my account.

I received an email the next day saying it was a pricing error and they would refund me.

Would i have liked a well specd desktop for $10? Yes.

Did i expect it? No.

But it was worth a try.
