A few years ago, if you saw a touch screen smartphone for $25, you may have thought it was a mistake. But these days you do often see okay android  smartphones on special for that sort of price. As someone said above, you can buy basic windows tablets for not much more than $100 retail, so a 50% discount on those wouldn't be unexpected. Tablets are also losing popularity, and if I was to chose a small low resolution tablet, it wouldn't be a windows one, due to the lack of apps. Basically I wouldn't pay more than $55 for such a tablet.

It will be interesting to see what happens, as I would have thought that if they are cancelling orders, they would be actually communicating with those customers. I did pickup a cheap dell laptop when they made a pricing error, and using it now, and it is a really good device. So the top companies do honour mistakes.

As the Op says let us see what happens...

My 6.5 year old loves visiting JBHiFi [even some staff love seeing him there enjoying himself which is nice] and its taken some [educational] discussion to explain we may not get this tablet. I'm not sure who will be more disappointed me or him !

I'll certainly be somewhat annoyed [but life will go on!] if there isn't at least some gesture even if they don't honour this deal mistake or not, otherwise where is the incentive for any web retailer to get things right ?

mattwnz: This is an interesting story on this very topic http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/9646054/Paying-for-someone-elses-mistake  Their advertising probably doesn't help them, by calling it a 'Crazy Sale', so you would expect crazy deals of similar type. If it had occurred during a non sale period, then it could be seen more clearly as being a genuine error, if that is infact the case.

"However, the commission doesn't prosecute every case. If it is an advertised 'special' that is not being honoured, that could be more serious because they have drawn shoppers into their stores," he says."

joker97: Took the money is a bit grey in online shopping. It's not like the shopkeeper takes the money and changes his mind.

I don't see how this is a grey area, maybe an explanation of what you mean by "bit grey"

Maybe this is a risk online retailers take by fully automating the sale and purchase  process?

All gone now, or someone got a lot of explaining to do at their next performance review

EDIT: My non-greedy order for 1x still showing as "IN PROGRESS"

Be interesting to see how this pans out. I told a mate of mine about it yesterday and his isn't cancelled yet. I didn't order one.

my 2c, too good to be true = a pricing mistake

even at three times the price that tablet would be cheap (and below cost)
