my last lcd tv i could change aspect ratio during a movie, i dont see why thats a feature you wouldnt want.

Sony made an executive decision. There's nothing you can do unless your source can be manipulated.

That's why I use a PC to output pictures via VLC

That 'feature' lops off parts of the movie footage. Like viewing a movie with horse blinkers on!

Freeview and animated movies are usually 16x9 / 1.85:1 aspect ratio, but most movies are wider at up to 2.40:1 aspect ratio. Ie they were intentionally shot and intended to be view that way.

Black bars top and bottom are your friend, relax and welcome them into your life.

NO, they steal my pixels and i want to ban them.

actually i have found a way to do it, just not in movie.

either way damn this tv is sharp, im glad i didnt spend another $400 on a cheap 4k, im sure its better but i didnt notice much diff in store. although the 65" 4k sony for $4k looked PHENOMENAL

I'm still brooding over missing the last of the Panasonic 65" VT Plasmas so I haven't bought a new TV since 5-6 years now ... still got my trusty old burnt out Samsung 50" Plasma

plasma, great blacks but oled is where my money would be if i had lots of it haha.

i see the 50" sony has jumped from $692 to $699 at JB today rofl.

suprised how good the $49 blue ray player goes, has its on in built web browser etc. i think rrp is $149, so clearly not high end, but certainly for $49 was a bargain imo.

sorry to point out the obvious but download/read the manual im sure it has the instructions in there.

is it the right kind of aerial for the type of tv tuner it is? ie terrestrial tuner for a UHF aerial or a sat tuner for a sat dish? i see you were asking about a extension cable earlier were you going from satellite connection to UHF connection?

is there any reason you keep double posting the same info?

im starting to think we cant get the uhf signal even though the freeview map said yes. going to be PISSED if so.

Hmm, is that really true sorry? I don't know much about this stuff but I can get Prime & Maori channel even though we only have a satellite dish (old Sky dish). We don't have a Sky subscription any more though. Old UHF antenna came down a few years ago during a storm and we just threw it out.
