Haha, nope.
A Transformer toy that was a pre-order for early September when I ordered it, arrived in stock ready for shipment well before the due date
My chat with Amazon has assured me that they will process a refund for the extra postage charged - hopefully sooner than later
nzkiwiman:
Just be aware everyone; I ordered an item with free postage. Had payment request this morning for the agreed price (cost of item with free postage)
Amazon then added postage onto my order when they billed me.
I am currently with chat in order to get this resolved.
I don't quite understand, you pay at amazon check out. Are you saying checkout shows free shipping, but the actual amount charged includes a shipping fee?
[edit] read your last post, think i understand now. They didn't have product in stock, and they don't charge you until the product is shipped. And they charged you shipping.
Interesting mess they will cause if it goes over the customs $400 threshold.
It won't go over the current customs threshold - and if customs do try to charge me I have the proof it is well under the limit (current charge to Visa was $308NZ, compared to the expected $252)
What a minefield items that are int he search list either don't ship to nz or don't apply the free shipping once of $75...

Yeah - it's pretty much been stopped. Over the weekend when they introduced it, as long as you searched by Amazon.com as the seller and the total was over $75, they pretty much shipped everything. Come midweek when they realised people were ordering items with shipping costs far exceeding the item's purchase price (eg office chairs, cast iron skillets etc :) they stopped that offer. A few random items are still getting free shipping offers, but not reliably - it's entirely possible that they've set the "offer free shipping" field to only appear if the cost of shipping is less than the profit they make on the sale, which is probably what they should have done from the start - the shipping costs easily lost them tens of thousands of dollars (it was a global offer rather than just NZ) and some Amazon employee probably had their job security rather affected.
Although I definitely understand why they changed their policy, I should have taken advantage of it but forgot: I had a KitchenAid mixer in my cart during the weekend that would have shipped to NZ for around NZD$270 with free shipping (NZ equivalent price of over $800), but I got side-tracked when checking out the appropriate transformers, so by the time I got back to it the now added $150 shipping cost would put it over the customs limit etc. While NZ$350 including a transformer was an OK price, the new $600+ price along with the lack of CGA/local returns etc would't be worthwhile.
Just a heads up, looks like the blanket $75 USD+ offer is back. At least it worked on the few Amazon sold items I just checked.
I bought a few things last Monday and got free shipping - including shoes, books and board games.

Ooh, what board games?
Glad to see SSD's are still available through Amazon. That and DDR memory, now only if DDR4 3200 cl14 memory could come down below the gst limit...

I followed a random link to Amazon, and one of the "adverts" was a mention that there was free shipping on orders over $75US to New Zealand, when sold by Amazon
Since I was accessing via a 3rd party tracking link, I closed that window and accessed directly. Now I can't find any mention of that offer.
I did a few random add to cart tests but wasn't able to find anything I wanted that was sold by Amazon that had free postage
Yeah, there is an ad about it on the home screen in the Amazon App (at least on my phone)

Products must be sold and fulfilled by Amazon to Apply. I'm picking the products you were looking at weren't.
You need to look at the product and see who is supplying and fulfilling the order, remembering many products on Amazon are supplied by 3rd parties.

I found that if you get some products fulfilled by Amazon, they are a separate shipment than simply 'sold by amazon' (and charged shipping separately)
