Was in there this morning and they currently have z3 compact for $497
Also just got an email about it, however notice on their website that the red/orange 1 is $20 cheaper as well.

I really want this and would probably regret not buying it, but I also don't want to spend $500.

Looking on Amazon it seems there are multiple versions. There is the D5803 model and the D5833 model.

So if I'm correct it should work on 2degrees, Spark, and Vodafone.

Yip. It is unlocked so will work on any network, but it has spark branding, meaning it shows the spark logo during boot up and has a pre installed telecom and yahoo app. Im using it with 2degrees.

Argh which means spark needs to OK firmware releases for it, they have not been the best in getting the new firmware OK'd in any good time frame in the past so might just skip it as I want android lollipop.
