Learnings from this year for me is to take up that cheaper offer at the start of the season.
I left it too late and the F1 TV Pro price went back up.
And again SKY didn’t quite get it right with my recorded feed stopping with several laps to go. I appreciate timing was all over the place with the delays but is it that hard to let it run until the race finishes?
Caught up with YouTube highlights but still. Sigh.
Verstappen to win again tonight unless he gets taken out in some Turn 1 shenanigans from his P6 grid spot. Will be interesting to see what the competition can bring.
Jaxson: Perez helping fast track Daniel Ricciardo’s return to Red Bull is really nice of him.
I felt Perez was quite poor at Spa. Started ahead, had a near 3 second lead before pitstop, lost a second in pitstop, but was 1.6 ahead then 2.4 ahead but then his speed just fell apart
Danny Ricc doesnt seem to be doing much either in my opinion

Topsy turvy. Ferrari was good. Mercedes average. McLaren's gamble on a high wing wet weather setup was wrong, but that's hindsight. Perez poor

Agree. I think Lewis is pushing that Mercedes higher than it should probably be...
What was Sainz up to ? He has become a bit of a liability to the team recently.
Edit: Looks like the Mercedes upgrades have reintroduced bouncing in the fast sections including some of the fast corners at Spa which caused them to overheat the tyres, brakes and be a handful to drive... Once again Adrian Neweys link to the past ways of doing aero and experience has helped him design an amazing car, that RB is superb in comparison.
Second half of the season about to kick off tomorrow with the teams allowed to be working again after the summer break?
I'm personally looking forward to seeing what McLaren can bring in the next few races; what might get finalized in the driver market; some decision from the FIA about grid expansion; and how Ricciardo gets on in trying to best Tsunoda, which is still very much an open question to my mind.
I see Lawson has qualified third for today's round of SF, placing him currently in the lead of that Championship on count-back, so I'm also hopeful he can acquit himself well in the race and keep himself front and centre in the thoughts of Marko, etc as they consider the '24 line-ups for F1.
Jaxson: Wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a DR to red bull in 24or25 and Lawson to partner Tsunoda.
Been following the idea of blocking use of DRS in qualifying being floated, which would seriously impact red bull currently. Could mean a more interesting start and first 5 laps before they take the lead again at least.
I think Lawson would be a better partner, happy to be official No.2. In sport you often see someone rise up whatever rankings may exist then they level off. Lawson has one way to go, up, Danny Ricc, much less so
Yes, having quali with one rule and the race another rule is silly.

Yes, having quali with one rule and the race another rule is silly.
I'm relatively agnostic about the rule either way. And Mark Hughes' view is that it wouldn't hurt Red Bull that much anyway. That said, there is already different rules for quali (use at any time) and the race (use when within 1 second of the car in front), so I don't think you can argue against the rule change because of inconsistency.
Can you use at any point of the track in quali, or just within the same nominated DRS zones as the race?

99% sure its anywhere

Just in the DRS zones: https://www.crash.net/f1/news/1009891/1/drs-f1-what-drag-reduction-system-f1-how-does-it-work
So that bit at least is the same as in qualifying and the race.
The theory behind DRS was to "compensate" the driver behind for the turbulent air from following closely. If this theory is followed through in practice, you could definitely argue that no DRS in quali, since no turbulent air? I guess unless you were actually following another car <1 second.
The theory doesn't always play out though. On some tracks at least, it is clearly too powerful since it pretty much becomes a push-to-pass system. Early indications (speculations?) are that for the 2026 rule set full blown movable aero might be introduced, i.e., teams could shift between Williams-level downforce on the straights and McLaren-at-Spa level on the twisty bits. Notionally all in the name of sustainability to reduce full burn.
