CYaBro: So close!
Neesham batted well but just couldn’t get us home.
Lost by 5 runs.
Wow that was close, to think NZ could get up to 380ish, so many key moments, really so many, good and bad, to have near 800 runs in a match decided by 5. I think that sets new record in WC for total runs.
So i said before the start aus will tell us where we are at, I think there, there abouts if we can make the final.
Rachin only needed to be out there 5 mins longer, ugggh, so many things. lol
Well played aus, bad luck nz.
Dochart: If the Blackcaps make it to semis I wonder who we would face. The two semi finals this year are 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd on the CWC table. So far from 1-4 is SA, India, NZ and Aus.
Yes, so hard to guess as a lot of spoiler games in there, but I do think this appears the final 4, NRR might end up being crucial. although Im not sure which team Id rather face, eeeek.
One thing is good to see, NZ can score big 300s, just need to be on the right end of them :-)
They said Williamson is about 6 matches out from being ready? Not sure how they use matches as a marker, perhaps I heard it wrong. We are missing him in the middle overs somewhat, although our scores would suggest we doing just fine.
Rachin now in top 3 scorer, 30 off QDK, and 5th highest avg with 81 (Conway with the 3rd highest score, 152no).
Netherlands totally smshing bangers was bit of a surprise, but good for the game.
Ind cleaning Eng up with ease has them well out in front.
Huge game for NZ next vs Sa, then Pak and finally SL. Will need to lose all 3 to miss out on the finals it appears. Such is the good start to the comp. I think Id rather play Ind again in final than Sa, but will see how we go against them first.
What could have been a cakewalk to Semis for us is now all up in the air. Surely Latham must have had his head in the clouds while choosing to bat first.
Statistically even if we scored a 250+ runs batting first, our NRR wouldn't had a big hit given the history of SA's chasing.
Now we have only 10 fit players going into the next game against PAK. Fingers-crossed!!

Totlly, I am not a fan of Latham as captain. IMO Micthell would be the better choice.
Yes we should have breezed through, with that terrible performance VS Sa, we have to either beat Pak, or lose and stay close NRR, then hope Eng beat Pak and NZ beat SL.
Clearly the only option should be we are aiming to win. Whats more gutting is this team is the best number of good players of spin we have possibly ever had.
Sounds like we might have Williamson back the next game which will be a huge boulster. Losing Lockie who was bowling 155kph is always a weapon, then Henry, and Southee is only just back from a similar injury.
Our batsmen need to chase, mid 250ish should be easy enough, depending on the wicket. Good to see Phillips score some runs. His bowling has been his feature. This would be the team I would tour Ind with.

Very good start for NZ so far, anything 300+ is scoreboard pressure.

I was expecting at least Jamieson or Ferguson to play today and not sure what is the reasoning for only picking 2 seamers in Boult and Southee.
Technically there are 5 spinners in the team. I think Fergie stlll recovering. I didnt think think KJ was in the squad, that would be odd not to select.
In saying all that, we only played two seam in the last Ind Tests. Mitchell could be used as the part time seam. Is Nesham injured?
Yes 350+ is ideal. We got plenty of bat out there.
The RSA match done me in
Williamson with no cricket is doing pretty darn well considering. So far at least.
Edit: it looks like 300 par pitch. So yeh, NZ need 350+ for scoreboard pressure.

I dont disagree with that. NZ has its times, and they can be and have been amazing. But the last thrashing is a problem. Bad day, no run of the green, sorry. And no issue with that, if we are rebuilding, lets embrace that. As I said here in another sport
Chinnaswammy Stadium is a hell of a gorgeous ground, being like a little island, or mote around the trees. Lovely. Wish I could have gone to this WC.
