Oblivian:

The mills certainly churning. Now reading Max has been requested to skip home waiting for bubs for this meeting along with the engineer team to discuss and adjust.

You would hope it means a week of tweaks and testing opportunities for ALL of them. But can't see it. However reads like Max has his back.

I get that. The week of tweaks should have happened at RBR when it went south mid 2024. Instead Perez and Liam got dropped, adding to the long list. I hope Racing Bulls has enough separation to let him go hard.

It seems that Red Bull is on a never ending quest to find a second driver that is quick enough to help win the Constructors championship in a car that only Max can pilot with finesse.

It's two fold. To protect Liam, and Honda pays them allegedly 10 million for Yuki's seat and Japanese advertising in Suzuka.

Amazing to think how one driver now rules the team and the team seems to need him more than he needs the team...

I suspect if the car doesn't improve Verstappen will be off. Newey and Honda at Aston Martin will irresistible. A new power unit for the Red Bull (Ford) will not be appealing.

Agree but only partly. Its fine to favour the top driver and the long term driver. IMHO this issue isnt that so much as the dog eat dog mentality of Horner and Marko. Toto has his angry side but he is a team leader for team players. Zak Brown and actually all the other teams/managers appear to me to be top in their roles, a LOT of that is attitude and belief, all of which are sadly lacking in the RBR leadership. Like to see what the other team managers think of Liam being ousted after 4 FP sessions

I’m not seeing it as being dumped. If anything this is an upgrade for Liam.

If Liam does well now, and especially if Yuki fails, this could be ok for him.
Yuki is vastly more experienced so one would expect a bit better for him.

Not enough is being said about Liam running different parts early on either.

I'm wondering if the "urgency" in dropping Lawson is related. If the car is bad (and it looks like it is) then Verstappen wont hang around. That means Red Bull need a second driver who is doing ok just to keep Verstappen. And if the car isnt performing they're gonna struggle to attract a top talent. Suddenly things could become quite bleak for Red Bull. So perhaps the panic is setting in as a result.

Edit: Basically the car looking bad = higher chance Verstappen jumps ship.

Its blame the driver not the car syndrome. If Yuki gets similar results, that proves it. He will have the advantage of 3 FP sessions and a dry track for upcoming races. And RB21 is faster as he put it, so he "should" outpace the RB's which are good enough for 9th and 10th. Compared to Liam they are close, despite his vast experience. Makes me feel he has peaked, whereas Liam had room to grow

This is a good watch. Note that he isnt a Liam fan. Cocky etc. But a good watch how Red Bull make poor decisions over and over

And this

When he got the nod over Yuki, the response wasnt great. Given that, the response for Liam and against Red Bull now, sheds some light

Would Liam have understood the uphill battle he would face to get decent speed out of the RB21, before he got promoted to Red Bull? He knows the history of the team and he's smart -  surely he would've known he was on a hiding to nothing.

Then, no. Its a fast car, not the easiest to drive, but its turned out to be very bad to drive. Max cant keep up due to grip and tyres. It has shown that Perez being oh so bad, wasnt that bad at all. he didnt get slow, the car slowed him. Its the car.

Love to see Max in the Racing Bulls. Dial in his front end grip, to make a very decent car even better for him. be a fun watch, if not eye opening.

he had no choice. he had no seat. no contract. when Horner called and said congratulations you're a RB driver, you'd think he has the option to say no no i don't want to drive the RB can i drive the VCarb. you think?
