Thats the line and length Fergy, came back in 4 inches, enough to just catch the edge.
Shane Warne was saying the day before. The perfect speed to get Max revolutions from a wrist spinner like Sodhi is between 75-80kph. Pretty much what hes shown today with having the guts to throw up a 78Kph and it ripped. The thing is last over he just got his line wrong twice and Perera did whats hes done to everyone else, 2 sixes from 2 average balls.
Id like to see Sodhi get more confidence to slow it down and really rip the stitches off the ball. To the right handed batsman bowl him round the back of his pads ala Warne vs Gatting "Ball of the century".
brilliant Fergusson, 148, then bowls a 118 slower ball, wicket. then bowls a full pace yorker, gone, wicket.
Another brilliant LBW from Sodhi. Your batsman set you up, your bowlers win you the game. Well dome Fergusson and Sodhi when it looked like this was going SL's way.
re Sodhi flight. Its the same issue Santner has and why he gets picked off if he doesnt bowl it perfectly.
but when Sodhi bowls in that 75-80kph the ball overs and rips sideways, the optimal speed for turn.
not many finger spinners in the top 10 bowlers of all time ;-p
I didn't watch the game but seems a bit poor. Two players that didnt feature in the previous games took the key wickets and got our total. Fergusson also got a key wicket. Sodhi etc just cleaned up the poor tail so a bit overrated there.
Not a great result.

?
Your batsmen were losing the game apart from two late efforts from two nit in the previous games.
Your bowlers, but not the ones you quoted helped win the game, cleaning up the tail is not what wins games its what was done previously by the bowlers
Dont know what your on about Sodhi has been consistently taking the Middle order. As did Fergusson, sure he got 2 of the later wickets, so what.
Looks like Aussie could get karma handed out today, India looking very good with the ball.

Im not about anything, and I enjoy your posts. I didn't watch the game nor know the result. It looked a blinder from your post. But in fact it was poor. Lost early wickets cheap. Two players who had not played gave us a score. They also bowled us into it. Plus Fergusson. Who cares if Sodhi (which I like a lot) got 3 wickets at the death, anyone bowling at the tail succeeds
Apart from a few exceptions, NZ is not great, and not surprising from a country this small. We struggle in 5 days, we are better in ODI, as anything could happen, and better in T20 when anything can and will happen. But we went from great test results, to below part shorter form results. Bizarre.
Taylor was and always was good, when he got his eyes done, he is awesome.
BC's seem to have issues adapting. We have a very good team, but the last T20 was quite a fail.
India destroying Aus with the 3 wrist spinners and 3 quicks. Chahal 6fa, and it was his first game, he didnt get picked for the first 2 ODIs. He was an under 12 world chess champion :-)
They talking about all the top teams need at least 1 wrist spinner, Ind, Eng, Ish Sodhis name was raised.
Aus all out or 230.
Im looking forward to the challenge of our batsmen facing their spinners. I hope Latham is back as he plays spin well. They are truely awesome spinners.

Honestly this is totally nonsense. We’ve lost one test series in two years, which if we’d had a little luck with the weather we would have drawn. We won a test series away against Pakistan which is not at all easy and beat England at home. We are very strong in test cricket.
Our T20 record is horrible in the last 6 months but generally we have an excellent team in all three versions of the game. We won against Sri Lanka comprehensively regardless of who got the runs. We didn’t play our best two players (who are significantly better than the rest of our team) and still won comfortably. How that is a fail is beyond me.
Sri Lanka is a failed team, it is rebuilding and a long way to go, so poor results against them is very poor for us
What an awesome game again by Aus v Ind, very low scoring, I thought Dhoni was going to mess it up. he definitely frustrates Kohli by blocking for no reason. Im sure someone is paying him to take ODIs into the last over haha.
I think New Zealand might do better than I expected against India if we can handle their spinners, they are very good, but Kane, Taylor and Latham are all pretty good with spin and I think Guptil is a lot better than hes given credit for, my only fear is he might go too hard to fast which I know Munro will do regardless. Zampa was awesome for Aus, so I think Sodhi should go well. I think Sodhi can turn it more and can deliver it slower, but hes not as accurate yet. Max revolutions is 75-79kph.
Then a super close high scoring BBL game between perth and hobart, everyone thought perth had it in the bag but Hobart won it with 3 balls to go, the WACCA was PACKED. I wonder if Auckland Aces had a team if we could fill out Eden Park, given its a small ground (well most grounds have the sides much bigger but same length ends) its ideal for T20. I think we would have a great NZ T20 BBL team, like our Breakers and unlike the warriors which is a much harder sport for us to crack over 24 rounds obviously.
Mccullum in action tomorrow for Brisbane Heat.
Colin DGH, Santner and Latham recalled to the 15.
Kane Williamson (c), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Colin Munro, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor.
I expect to see a bit of a change up, Im not sure why Bracewell is still there but I guess he didnt get a go against Sri lanka, I think this will be a test beyond his level. A one off with the bat in a T20 I suppose gives him a sniff. I thought Scott was the surprise from the tail despite his off field issues.
Guptill
Munro
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Latham
Santner
Southee
Sodhi
Ferguson
Boult
I think Santner and Ferguson will be a choice between Colin and Ferguson. but this is our best team IMO. I cant wait to see what Santner has to offer with the bat now. He will dot up an end with his accuracy despite not moving the ball much, Sodhi will go for more runs but potentially take more wickets. I think its quite smart if they choose the 2. India have 3. Well I guess we do to if you include Kane who has better stats than one would think.
That is batting to 7 with a strong tail and a solid bowling line up. The other thing about 2 spinners is, if wickets fall from the openers, the spinners can get through their 20 overs very quick. Ferguson needs to be bowling at off stump on the crease to get yorkers through the gate. If Shane Bond was bowling coach still, that would be a definite.
Will be interesting to see Napier again after the drainage Fiasco and it taken off the scheduling last year.
