Well it is a true batting wicket, India bowled well, we did throw away 3 wickets. The 2 called and bowled's and Munro playing an imaginary line.

Like wise not our best team, Id rather have colin than bracewell and Sodhi has to be in the team no matter what being as the only spinner we have that takes wickets through actual spin which is what the commentary discussed during our batting innings.

Pretty hard for mid to lower order to score runs when no top order sticking around on a batting wicket.

We should be designing our pitches to our bowling strengths, swing and seam which means green green pitches, and from now on set India in to bat based on there weak avgs batting first compared to their avg's batting second. They always chase down scores.

I SAID we should bowl Bracewell hahaha. He might get his AVG under 30 this ODi and become an actual all rounder.

I generally agree. I just see it that we got used to SL, and this is different. Imagine if we battled through a series against India, then we would have SL for breakfast, but tough the other way round.

When suddenly its really hard (batting against better bowlers), the trend is to try to overcome that, and we paid. We should have just tried to adapt, get set, not get worried when the SL games run rate isnt happening. We may have had a more consistent level of contributions, scored well, but still beaten as we batted conservatively. At least we will have learnt.

Then again, hindsight is a great thing

Fergusons first ball is exactly what I want him to bowl, but 1 foot to the right, fast yorkers and fast bouncers at the head like he did successfully in the UAE

My Man Mitch remains the all rounder, he scored twice as many runs, twice as many I say.... :-)

I really hate it when they say the whole side had a poor day. How could that happen? They all partied last night? Its a professional side who have had a lot of time playing a poor Sri Lanka, who tried to make runs that weren't there as they didn't get used to, and settle into a totally different team. Under estimated India or over estimated themselves.

I agree but unfortunately the ground isnt round. would make hitting 6s as easy as Eden Park.
But surely they can but some backing up that stand so when the sun hits that angle it doesnt hit the eyes. Crazy.

I turned the game off and went and watched Sydney play Hobart in the BBL. Was set up to be a good game, 6rs hit nearly 150% SR with 170, but Hobart flopped like NZ did which was a surprise.

Im ignoring this first game, took nothing from it, we are testing players, Bracewell, Santner etc. Bracewell bowled well, evidently his batting had improved way above his international stats. But still think Neesham has proved to be the go to all rounder. Santner did as well as the rest with the bat, ie badly haha, so cant judge him on that yet. His bowling wasnt too bad SR wise. But Bracewell was the pick with low ECON and 1 wicket which should have been 2 thanks to a dropped catch. Overall if we had scored 260+ I think we would have been in the game with these bowling stats.

I say pick the same team again and give both Bracewell and Santner another go. Fergusson proved himself in the UAE and didnt do to bad with his first game in NZ. He hit 151kph, but he needs that speed to be on the yorker line. Econ wise in the death with this speed if he could bowl yorker length at just inside the wide crease which is an unhittable ball. So just needs a bit more work on his accuracy, but hes young and I think we can get him there, I just wish Shane Bond could work with him.

I think Santner, Neesham, will be in the 15 for the WC, Henry, Fergusson, Sodhi one will be in the 11 and the other 2 making up the 15. If Santner proves to have improved with the bat and can leep that econ rate. India has shown the benefit of 3 spinners in a team. But they have insane depth with spinner/batting all rounders. Their number 1 bowler, the worlds number 1 ODI seamer, hasnt even played, they are resting him for the WC.

Guptil was bowled by a ball any body in the team would have, but Munro was just a terrible shot, and it was defensive which is odd. Hes not watching the ball in the air and off the pitch clearly, to have missed the ball completely.

I expect black caps to bounce back and be competitive, I think they are better than Aus at the moment and Aus won a game, so I think we will prob lose 3-2 in this series. That would be great as we are testing our reserve players for the world cup in our 11.

Aus bowled SL out for 150 odd in the first Day Night Test, Aus 260/6. If Sri Lanka had scored 300 first innings could have been in this game. Either way it looks like a result for sure. Oh wow another wicket. make that 7-272, bowl Aus out under 300 and SL could still be in with a chance.

Eng bowled out 1st innings for 77 by WI, OUCH, forgot to mention that one. But WI stuggling 2nd innings at about 150/6 with a 350+ lead, Eng will slip hugely if the lose this test.

Pakistan making a go of their 1st innings so far vs Saffers. 60/1 1st innings.

Test cricket has gone bonkers.

Looks like overcast at the mount? Only 44% humidity, doubt the ball will move until the second innings.

Waiting for the team announcement from the squad. Id like to see Neesham and Santner, and Sodhi as the specialist spinner, which leave Boult and Southee, leaving Fergusson out. I guess it depends on the pitch, but Sodhi can spin its sideways on concrete and Fergusson has proved himself throughout the year, I guess so has Sodhi, but aside from testing players we need to win some games so thats my pick for the bowlers which means we would bat to 8, which hopefully means runs on the board, Neesham is probably the most consistent with scoring between Santner and Colin, I just feel Santner when in tune cane dot up an end and get through overs quickly before they have realised an over has gone for only 3 runs etc.

OMG COLIN AND DOUG, well Colin can score, so can doug, both can bowl, issue is form. Bracewells form with bat is improving but I dont think hes better than Southee who dramatically under delivers on his potential.

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham(w), Henry Nicholls, Colin de Grandhomme, Doug Bracewell, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult

India Chose to bat, so could be good for us, outside it will swing more at night.

If Munro and Williamson can bowl. Why dont we use them as all rounders and stack our batting deep, pick Neesham and another specialist batsman.
