Yeah I cant agree with you either, we definitely are performing at 50% of our potential vs India, finishing a game bowled out with 10 overs remaining only needing 9rpo is ridiculous. They didnt bowl well. We played stupid shots on a wicket that is 350+, India scored a very gettable total. If we dont win the next game at the mount it better be because we were bowled out not because we hit balls down the throat of the opposition.

Anyway the West Indies absolutely spanking Eng in the test was awesome for them. SA play Pak again in ODI tonight and only just won the prior game. The WC is going to be very interesting with the top 6 teams being able to beat any of the other 6 teams on any given day. Due to the nature of how the comp is being run its garunteed the top 4 will play the semi finals. I think NZ have a very good chance of the top 4 and potentially winning with our top 11, not this Ind series we are using to find our top 11. Once at the Semis, a team only has to play to their full potential to win the world cup, so I like the system. Eng will very much suit our style of bowling and it provides turn for spin as well. Im expecting Neesham, Southee, Sodhi, Fergusson/Henry Boult will make the bulk of our bowling, provided Neesham is fit in time, I dont think his injury is expected to take that long to heal. Henry is a great accurate bowler with a good average and he is probably as good as Southee if not more consistent with the bat. So its not a bad tail. Another all rounder could see the batting depth increased, but I think if we fail its due to the top/middle having a bad one. Where we need top bowlers to either contain or take wickets, so for me Bracewell and Munro just arent good options, unless Bracewell continues to show form with the bat (improving is original Avg of 8 lol), and taking wickets with the ball, he use to be not above average with either, now he seems like a genuine all rounder over night, where Colin has gone from being a Genuine all rounder to not being above average with either. Santner might sneak in if he is given another chance and takes it with both hands. I think there is one spot left which is whether they go with an all rounder or a genuine bowler (Henry), I think Fergusson is already a certainty, Henry is hard to leave out, but Bracewells performance in the T20 and last night he is making an argument for his inclusion in the squad. As long as we bat to Avg of 30+ to 7, Im happy, and all bowlers Avg below 30. So 8 could be open for Bracewell/Santner/Colin, but I think they already have 1 of the 3 in the squad.

OMG how bad is Vettoris heat going. They only needed 6rpo. with 5 overs left 6.9rpo. But they get bowled out. Mccullum is a has been in T20.

As for SA, Pak have torn them a new one bowling them out for 136. They should score that with ease, I wont stay up to watch it. But the last game was close. Pak might be in with a chance of an ODI series in SA. If only they could lift their test team, they have the talent.

Bracewell has to be in, his bowling is good. Few wickets were taken the other day his economy rate was excellent. he was the only batsman to play to what was available

How can a whole team play poor shots? In any one game a player may play a couple of loose shots, he may or may not get out. Apart from Bracewell the entire team failed. They played India as though it was easy SL. Or they are an unprofessional side as they all seemed to decide to play poor. Going by Stead's comments he compares SL results with India results, that's stupid. You are dealing with more skill with India, you need to manage decision making.

IMHO saying we all played poor is an excuse as the hope of a win was lost. Put bias aside and look at the game. We cannot compete with India at the moment, that gap will close through the series, and with your view, we will have had a poor series? In my view we played a better team as if thy were not that much better, in fact they are a world away from SL

I've not read the previous few posts, so just my 2c, I think we are playing crap against India - we are far better than this. I'm not expecting us to win every game, but we should at the very least be competitive. We did bowl very well for a time in the last game, but not enough.

I think DGH is playing terribly. Making bad decisions when batting, and not bowling accurately enough.

Munro is surely living on borrowed time too, although I don't know who you'd replace him with at the moment. Guptill has now had 4? failures in a row. It's just coming down to individuals not performing, but the issue is most of the team is not performing at the same time and we are just getting dicked.

Bracewell has been really good with the bat which is nice to see. Really hope we step up today. Will have to wait and see.

I really cannot see how every time we dont win there is a list of excuses why the BLACKCAPS didnt play well. It seem that the quality of the opposition has nothing to do with it. The fact of the matter is we got results against a very poor SL, who are rebuilding, they are just no good right now. We are now playing India who are No.2 ranked and are probably really No.1. And the ONLY reason we lose is our play?

There are TWO sides competing. While we are all fans, there needs to be a reality check. Bias does not always equal fact, much as we may want it to be. We play as well as we are allowed to play. If the opposition strangles our batting and we choose to ignore that....  All bar one of our batsmen failed. This means either they are all not that good, or coincidentally they all played poor on the same day, what are the odds of that? Or maybe there are 11 other reasons that caused us to take risks that did not pay off

No I think the quality of side of course is important. But, game one they beat us, game 2 we beat ourselves against a quality opposition. There is a difference, we are better than the 2 results so far.

I think we will play our top 11 today which without Neesham is

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham(w), Henry Nicholls, Doug Bracewell, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult

But I think they should swap munro around with latham

Martin Guptill, Tom Latham(w), Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Colin Munro, Henry Nicholls, Doug Bracewell, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult

Its Kholis last game ahead of the WC, they are resting him for the rest of the tour. So if we win today, it will be a much weakened India, who are already resting the worlds best seam bowler.

No!  When every player fails its not just a bad day at the office by everybody. If it is, they all need to be fired if our players feel its fine to play dumb shots, instead of playing to their best ability on the day. The batting isn't up to their bowling OR the score we bat for is too high based on what the bowling at us is

I agree swapping Munro for Latham position, Munro may do better against lesser bowling and more of a free hand

Yes, we are a better team than these two games, we bowl well, we bat well, but we dont bat to a total we can achieve, we overrate ourselves on that due to playing a poor team in the last series. We needed to reset and re assess India, which we haven't done, and what Stead says reinforces that.

Stead saying now we arent focussed on trialling for the WC and this game on is focussed on winning this series.

I dont like us choosing to bat first.

I read that but that wasn't what my point was, he seems to think SL and India are the same, OR the Black Caps should continue on their  winning way, either way its flawed logic. So why aren't we getting a result he thinks. Its a different horse on a different course, you ride that race differently.

I think he was focussing on trialling the maybes for the squad which was a mistake against India when we already know what our best 11 is. I dont think we are playing it today either.

Ms Dhoni being rested, thats a break if we can score good.

That wind looks strong, pull shots for six or from the other end cover drives.

These two are all at sea. Lucky no Dhoni as Munro was caught, and Guppy caught. Playing bad? No, Not giving these bowlers the respect they deserve

Shami owns Munro. Hes needs to move down the order. I think 40 from the first 10 is acceptable as the seam is softer and the good bowlers have bowled their first spells, then target 10-30 overs.

No that is a bad shot, sure Shami put it where if you dried to drive it you will edge it, but Munro shouldnt have drived at that. Its good bowling because Munro is striking at perfect balls. Williamson wouldnt have played that shot etc. As you say, hes not respecting the new ball or their opening bowlers. It worked with Mccullum because he had a good eye as did Guptil at that stage.
