I think Carlos is hoping that with the change in regs, Mercedes power might be a decisive factor. At the time he signed with Williams they were the only Mercedes team with a seat.
Jaxson:Yeah I must stay Yuki has stepped it up a lot lately.
Liam seems a bit desperate at times, trying to ensure no one wants to tangle with him isn't a bad strategy - it worked for Max.
Liam needs to avoid the hot headed vibe as that's apparently cost Yuki in the past.
There was an interview with Lawson where he mentioned being a team mate of Tsunoda in F3 and the way that Tsunoda would do a close pass chicken run on him during qualifying. On one occasion colliding. It reminded me of the time Tsunoda was upset that he was told to swap position with Ricciardo. It looks like his helmet manoeuvre then wasn't something new. There's a difference between being hotheaded and just not being a pushover.
Good one-two for Mercedes and a great result for Russell, genuinely surprised he didn't bin it somewhere on that circuit.
Enjoyed Lawson's tussles with Magnussen and Perez, particularly that move where he had Kevin up the outside and Checo up the inside squeezing him into the corner. Didn't yield and they all kept it clean through the turn incredibly.
Thoroughly deserved 4th Drivers for Verstappen, he's done well in a poor car with three other teams breathing down his neck and zero support from his team-mate. It's going to be a real fight next year if Red Bull can't get their car development back on track.
as i said, i'm following Liam Lawson in case he doesn't get a drive next year
last couple of races, he got schooled, coming in just about last place for 2 races
I was looking back over the season and Max won 7 out of the first 10 races.
That was the drivers championship sealed right there.
The other teams got equally as good, sometime better, sometimes not, but Max stayed within touch of them all and crucially the others shared their points across two drivers, whereas Max got to keep the maximum possible amount every time.
Asteros:
Liam's arrival seems to have motivated Yuki to greater heights
Its one race. Ask the day before, with many disadvantages he was equal and usually better. Now he had one disappointing race its all about Yuki? Had Yuki competed when Liam was thrown in at the last minute, tracks he had not raced on and a car he had never driven.... he didnt, he should have been comfortably above.
Asteros:
Checo is surely going to be cut. The second Red Bull seat is up for grabs
Said that an eon ago this year. The teams finished in pairs. Except Checo was 2 pitstops behind the other guy.

I think his poor performance probably helped Max win the drivers title this year.
Max won this year by Red Bull still being class leading for the first 1/3 of the year, and with no teammate stealing some of the top points.
If Ferrari and/or McLaren can be similar performance from the get go next year then we're finally on for a different world champion.
Red Bull will not with a constructors title alone though, and for that reason Perez has to be addressed.
That's where the sponsorship money comes from and Red Bull are nowhere near consistent enough as a team to win this without two drivers chasing the big points.
Perez sponsorship by Carlos Slim pale to the millions lost in Constructors. Read an article recently, probably an opinion piece, that backing a loser (my words) is not great marketing. IMO RBE is consistent. They, aka he, gets the max out of it, no pun intended. On that note its been abrupt season. Usually its a one team deal. Now, records broken for multiple winners, no one knows who will win. Mercedes great then poor, Ferrari greta then poor, McLaren great then still decent, Red Bull 4th best but outpointed 4th best. Well Max did. Yes some events favoured one or more, that varied. But seeing 7 drivers go toe to toe was awesome. No reason why 2025 will be no different, actually closer, for the same reasons that 2024 got closer

Who got schooled when he stepped in in 5 races last year?? And this year, but a low race seems he is over?

Thats a fair point.

Last sky question please...
Do you get to watch on demand with Sky Sport Now?
ie if I get up in the morning and want to watch a replay or highlights of the race, can I just queue that up and start watching,
OR do I need to watch when it's scheduled on their broadcast
See the detailed discussion in this thread.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
GM/Cadillac has been approved in principle to join F1 in 2026 as the 11th team. Seems like Andretti standing down on their side and Maffei stepping down on the Liberty side has helped to smooth the tensions and finally get a deal over the line. Great news for F1, great news for two more driver slots opening up.
Looks like Honda will have to supply engines for '26/'27 until GM can get their PU up and running by 2028. I'm sure that won't impress either Honda or Aston Martin but they will draw the short straw under the current rules if GM can't talk another supplier into selling them an engine after the previous agreement with Renault turned pear-shaped.
Will be interesting to see if Andretti get their branding anywhere on the car, though it's hard to see how they don't get to be involved as they have the facility at Silverstone which GM will have to lean on in the short term at least you would have thought.
Rodin had their bid binned last year, i wonder if this opens the door for them to have another go.

I'd love to see Rodin have another go but surely they don't have the financial wherewithal to go toe to toe with FOM and the other teams? The other organisation who would probably be keen to take a run at it is Hitech, but didn't I read somewhere that they are bankrolled by Mazepin and I can't imagine Liberty/FOM will want to get into bed with him. They also lost Oakes to Alpine so there's that.
Definitely would like to see twelve teams on the grid though.
