I am so damn impressed with this Warriors side.
I will admit I lost the faith many moons ago - but man its coming back based on the 4 performances so far.
Stoked for them and damn interested/excited to see how they go for the rest of the season.

Amazing huh. Ive said for SOOOO long we need more quality forwards and the team needs to be fitter. And that has made a huge difference. Its not like the warriors dont know how to tackle. it was the defensive style, how to cover and being fit enough to get back to tackle. So now we have this awesome condensed defense which means smaller gaps between players, my worry was we would get toasted on the wings, but they are shifting wide when they sense the ball is going wide and a player overlaps, fantastic defense style but dangerous if you cant do it, its a lot more technical than it looks.
If you just stop teams scoring and you get your fair of posession and your completion rate is high, eventually the other team cracks. Especially when you have forwards like Harris and Luke delivering quality (not miracle) offloads giving us second phase and often spun out wide.
Wasnt Lino amazing, hes such a good 7. We should have put Johnson at 6 and Lino at 7 3 years ago. Johnson is a terrible 7, but where else do you play him, the traditional running half position is 6, but when he first joined, he was a mere 75kg odd. Hes 91kg now and has the size to run through the gaps obviously.
For now we have Green doing the 7 duties as well as the 6 and letting Johnson be himself, a touch football you cant touch this dancer.

Yep Lino was amazing.
And that completion rate and repeated sets of 6 was outstanding and yielded points which was great.
The Warriors certainly have a new(old) fan in me : )

Seeing these big boys fit enough to defend the line so we get the ball back is amazing huh, it really shows how important fitness is in league.
Good news, Mannering FINALLY back for the warriors, as well as Johnson which Im not so fussed about, will be interesting to see if we lose structure with johnson vs lino. the game will become scrappy if so.
Gavet back round 8, Papali'i our star 19yo from round 1 and 2 will be back around the same time, we missing him, hes a machine for a 19yo and very professional. The head of a 30yo pro on 19yo shoulders.
*rubs hands together Time to jump back on the bandwagon. Haha nah, I have followed them over almost every season but I have paid closer attention to some seasons than others...
It's their fitness that really impresses me at the moment.
Love it! 5 on the trot and not a hater in sight. Guess they are silencing those here who wrote them off after round 1 saying its only one game and they will get pumped as usual.

Yes, they play for 80 minutes now.
I think it also goes more than that. Ball skills are top tier. They do many very late offloads, so when they do, they are buying extra tackles. Imagine if one side plays 5 tackle game and the other 6 or 7? That what they are doing. Clearance was 80%, much lower than the Cowboys, but the overall game was just much higher quality.
When they defend, I feel confident they will hold them, and the Cowboys only scored off our errors Our points were all earned. If you could convert my comments into stats, our stats will be all over them, as they say "the result will take care of itself"
TAB last week had us 8th favourite for the Grand final, $13 I think it was. Now its 5th at $8

I'm interested to see how they go when they have 15-20 mins left and are 2 or 3 tries down. Also interested to see how they do after back to back loses. It will happen at some point and how they respond to that as a team will be interesting.
We have seen games where they have lead and where they have come from behind with minutes to spare and proven they can win from both sides. What has impressed me is the low number of errors, especially at the play the ball. As stated earlier, this is most likely a result of improved fitness. I love the team group refocus after a score. I wouldn't be surprised if this is copied by other teams soon. Teams not yet played will be taking them seriously now so it will get harder from but I reckon there is still more potential left in this team.

Thats the main key.

I have forgotten the games already! Have they come back from 14 or more points down with 20 minutes or less to go? That's a very good sign if they are turning losing games in their favour rather than throwing wins away after 60 minutes!
sdav:
are 2 or 3 tries down.
How about 7 points required with 5 minutes left, score a try and 2 field goals to win the game in the last minute?
