Well we are missing a spare keeper for the world cup and we also need someone at 6/7 who can bat it home, I think Seifert could be ideal. Imagine if you could fit Munro, Seifert, Neesham in that late middle order, boy that would be fun.

Fergussion, Sodhi, Santner all bowled well.

It was a fun game, but you cant read anything from last night and pop it into an ODI squad. Its entertainment, and high risk batting, which will come off or it wont. Its the same with the bowling, the high risk batting will offer wickets. I find it odd that dropped catches and being hit for a six didn't seem to bother the Indians, no emotions, wry smiles, nods of the head.

Disappointing. I hope she loans her sign for someone at the next game. One minute it's look the other way, next it's theft and removal of free speech

Generally no, but it is a valid point, one that Smith and Doull keep highlighting, we are going into a WC without a front line keeper let alone a backup keeper.

But this comes back to that try someone out and dump them for ages when they actually possess a lot of Talent.

Young guys like Seifert and Fergusson and Neesham are the future of NZ cricket and there are plenty more young guys not getting a go.

Seifert would be perfect for the ODI WC to fill the Keeper sport, given his strike rate. Which is traditionally what a keeper does, the very end of the batting and come in and bashes the ball for a quick 20-30 off 10 balls. But I think Seifert has better longevity than that.

Another thing I think can be taken for the ODI WC is how well Sodhi and Santner go together, especially in Eng where it will spin. Santner is accurate and just strangles players into false strokes which compliments Sodhi who places fielders and bowls ball to that fielder and asks the batsman are you brave enough to try and hit that over his head and takes wickets both from Santner frustrating them, but also with his perfect fielder placement and bowling to that fielder. Or he takes wicket with share spin, being the only player in NZ that can get Warne like purchase on the ball (not comparing him to Warne, just that he can move the ball so much).

So for me that missing player from the Squad I couldnt pencil in has been now and its Seifert and gives us an insurance Policy,

Guptil
Latham
Williamson
Taylor
Nichols
Munro
Neesham
Seifert (K)
Santner/Fergusson/Southee
Sodhi/Fergusson/Southee
Boult

Fergusson, Southee, Henry, Colin De G

Batting to 9 with potentially 2 good sloggers at 10 and 11. And mixing the batting order with high SR and more traditional DOI players (ie Taylor).

All of that without losing potency in our bowling. Its clear Southee is out of form, but he might find it in the WC and if not we have many options to cover him.

that is a team capable of consistently hitting 300+.

I will be quite happy enough with this INdian tour if we close out the T20 Series.

Auckland showing Welli and the Mout and CCH how to do it, sold out this game a week ago, pretty much immediately :-).

Seifert looked great, bit its once in his limited opportunity for the Black Caps. If you played Watling you know you get the best keeper and  a good batsman. Southee is worth leaving out. he "might" hit form, but if he might,. and Munro might, its a lot of potential waste based on "might" Id rather bet on Seifert as a Munro replacement. The younger model not the 31yo that is presuring himself and still not working

Yes I agree, Southee is no longer a must have, nor is his bowling demandinf it. So play him in the squad and give him chances when we are certain of a good ting.

Is just a form slump, I think he will bounce back, and on his day hes as good or better than boult and vice versa.

Maybe replace some of the batsmen who aren't managing batting too well first.

Thats quite a line up. But, Im unsure if all of them are out of form. Mainly Munro. Bowling is too good, and the batting is too good, so the pressure is there to score bigly.

And this is a diluted India.

That edge.

There was strong reaction in the Sky Sports commentary box with former Black Cap Simon Doull calling the decision "absolutely ridiculous", saying it was clear the ball had hit the edge of Mitchell's bat.

But fellow commentator Ian Smith was more cautious, suggesting the white spot that showed up on Mitchell's bat on the "Hot Spot" replay was already showing before the ball reaching the level of the bat.

That mark, and it as dull, was there before the ball. It was only one frame though. But the mark was not the usual bright mark, it seemed more of an earlier rub (that has cooled somewhat)

Just quietly on another note, check this out in the BBL, namely Vettoris Brisbane Heat that Mccullum plays for.

As of last week they needed the Melb Stars to lose last week to Perth, which they did, lose this week to themselves, and lose next week and they will make the finals likely.

Anyway not only did they win last night...

Melb Stars scored 155 from their 20 which is normally the minimum but defendable total.

Well Brisbane Heat didnt even get to Mccullum at #3. They scored 156 in 10 overs. lol. I think that must be a record of some kind.

Bryant 71/30
Ben cutting 81/30 at SR270 haha.

That was just insane. Vettoris team are set up to play like Stead wants us to play, but prior to last week, they started the season well, then lost 3 in a row. They bat high strike rate (even for t20) down to #8.

If there has of been enough runs Cutting was on his way to score 100 off 34 balls. INSANE.

Yeah, true. But T20 is bit of a lottery. You mightily well but nit great but bat for  a few good overs, you may be in top notch and mike a wee mistake and be out for 3. Its a fun game, but I'd never bet money on it.

There was also a glaring issue with snicko: there was no frame between the ball hitting the bat and the ball hitting the pad. Yet this was deemed more conclusive than the hotspot on the bat and ball. As for the mark that was "already there" - it doesn't show up on the leg side hotsopt but it did from the other angle, and the inside of the bat was nowhere near the pad. If he'd hit the pad, there should have been a visible ridge on snicko, which suddenly wasn't evidence enough.

It's an absolute howler of a decision no matter which way you spin it.

I think Cricket as a whole is a very high irsk sport to gamble on. Definitely Brisbane scoring Melbourne Stars 156 in 10 overs was very exciting to watch

Very much so, even spin vision you can see the deviation off the bat. I find with snicko the spike is usually one frame after the ball passes the bat, usually when the back of the ball is just in line with the bat.
