True, as our rubbish bowling is offset by Windies rubbish batting, scrappiest match ever. Ferg is the find of the night. 153 in the damp, what's that in AUS or sub continent?? 156?

Lockie Ferguson finishes with a 5fa, only 1 ball from memory below 150kph, 149kph lol. The best spell of insane speed of seen in ages. I wish he would target the wickets more. But I think our next 150kph consistent bowler has really cemented his spot now. I struggle to think of anyone bowling 150kph and above bowlers in world cricket right now, outside Lockie.

Yep. If this was a dry calm night? In Australia. Better again. Damp night slows it down.

Help me out here with a couple of questions please.

  1. I thought each team only got one DRS review per innings in international T20?  WI lost a LBW at 5.1 overs that they reviewed, then they had another review at 8.1, given out initially but was overturned.
  2. Bennett was bowling the last (16th) over, was getting smashed, then all of a sudden Neesham bowled the last 3 balls.  I didn't think you could change the bowler halfway through an over.  (It was after a high no-ball, did the umpires remove him?)

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

1. That was an umpires call, on where the impact was, so review is retained
2. I believe it was his second waist high full toss, so was removed

Was streaming it on spark sport at home.

Flawless. HD, framerate was bang on, zero dropouts

Why was the DLS in place, they each had the same overs to play? Given that Black Caps has 4 less over to lose wickets shouldn't it have gone the other way?

In any case a poor match. Poor bowling both sides, no balls galore, a bit of a farce. Ferg won the match pure and simple.

Same for me. Actually Chromecasted it - not that that changes things really.

Also thought the commentary was pretty good too. Probably comes down to the commentators you like or dislike as to whether its your thing or not.

Duckworth Lewis takes into account the opportunity cost associated with loss of wickets and stoppages at various times. Both sides can have the same number of overs without having had the same opportunity. If you know you have 16 overs to score the runs it's different from having breaks at various points in the innings.

The calculations are freely available to be looked at.

Because when you start thinking you have 20 overs you will bat or bowl a bit differently than compared to (in this case) 16 overs - I think a lot of people forget the bowling side of losing overs.

A poor match? Are you kidding? Yes a lot of the bowling was poor - way too many no balls and wides (criminal in a short form game). Lochie Ferguson was amazing though. However; as a match it was great - could have gone either way. Really thought the Blackcaps had lost it early on and really worked their way back into the game.

Windies went out batting for 20, they need to last 20. They didnt have the opportunity to play a 16 over match which gives them more freedom as there are 4 less overs to bleed wickets. Seems to me they had a disadvantage.

Yes Lockie was awesome. A can get but struggles to get 150, sprays it, gets tired, now he's 150 or + almost literally every ball, in not ideal air conditions. And on the mark.

The bowling on both sides was poor, especially us, but at least we had one player that bowled, and he bowled great. Windies were almost as bad. A win is great, but a low quality game from both sides isnt a great watch.

Like I said before start of last match, been looking forward to Glenn Phillips matching his ability at international level. Him and Conway are great stocks coming through.

We have Milne who wont bowl here this year bowling 150+ but have 2-3 youngsters at the provincial level coming through and we have Ish Sodhi.

If you have 2 x 150kph bowlers and Ish Sodhi, you are going to win a lot more matches than you lose, especially when you have great batsmen to back it up.

So to replace our aging fast bowlers we have the guys coming through and to replace Ross and Guppy etc we have the batsmen to do it.

Basically Milne and Munro taking the money over international T20s (which who can blame them) we wouldnt be seeing some of these players, still Id love Milne and Munro in the side, Munro and Guppy opening. Williamson has no place in the T20 squad imo. Phillips to Keeper. But I still have faith in Seifert, he is way better than he is coming off. I doubt Munro has any loyalty to NZ cricket now, not in a nasty way, so likely Seifert will get at least this summer to prove himself.

The great thing about Phillips and Conway, they can bat in all 3 forms of the game. Is it possible for the next gen black caps to even surpass the last 10 years with us getting to #1 in ODI and T20 and 2nd in Tests at one point and 2 back to back WC Finals. Dear to dream....
