Important rules of any investigation is to not discount anything and to only look at evidence. The media use the lack of "official comment" as an excuse to report what they like and that the investigation is poor. How would they know?

I don't find it too far fetched in view of the fact the plane flew for 4 hours after the transponder was disabled.

'If' this were true, what are they planning on doing with the aircraft and what would they do with the passengers?

Malaysian govt must have seen my post.....

Question stands, what would they have done with the passengers.

However, it is still possible the little holes in the cheese all lined up and the plane just crashed. The ocean is a vast area.

That relies on there being a secure place to land, which would also suggest support from a government or agency. Hmmmmm

If it's a hijack, and I'm still to be convinced it has been hijacked, you would have to wonder that there were demands made while the aircraft was still flying that were not met and the aircraft was subsequently crashed into the sea.

Having said that the news reports seems to suggest the hijacking is a matter of fact, perhaps there is still much more information yet to be released which supports this.

Well it has at last been confirmed by malaylasia, and they wouldn't have finally confirmed it, unless they were 100 percent sure.
The initial thought when this happened was that it was a hijacking as there were people flying on false passports, but they were quickly discounted as unlikely suspects. What are the odds of someone on your flight flying on a false passport.

There was an early report about a "blip" on radar, lost when it was in the middle of the Malacca Strait. A direct line to there from where the transponder was turned off takes it close to the Malaysian Thai border, heading west it would have probably gone into both Thai and Malaysian airspace. Perhaps it raised eyebrows for minor incursions (but probably not - as it seems).
Later plots of where it was shown indicate that it turned right from that area - to the NW, it didn't enter Indonesian airspace. If it had, then the Indonesian air force is well armed and titchy - that would have been a bad move.

Crash it into something - 9/11 style? If so, who were they wanting to "get". Uighur muslim terrorists, with Al Qaeda links? Then not back to Malaysia / KL to kill muslims (anyway - they would have been there too soon - before business hours). If Uighur (who have issued threats against the Chinese), then they'd have been better to delay the hijack until later in the flight and whack a target in China. Still a bit early to hit a major target during business hours. As for the other "usual suspects" - the plane was full of Chinese, not Americans.

I expect they could land one on quite a short runway (less than FAA or Boeing mandated spec) if push came to shove - or ditch in the sea as discussed. Risky - sure. Same result (if successful) - you have a plane on the ground or in the sea, you're not going to refuel and take-off again and head to "Libya" (for lack of anywhere else - where would they want to go these days?). There's no real "lever" - it's not the "normal" hijacker thing to do.

Crash it into the sea (or a mountain or whatever?) - why bother? They could have done that as soon as they had control.

Hijackers turning off ADS-B and secondary radar, and at least partially disabling ACARS, then flying the plane on a carefully plotted course to evade detection for as long as possible? Doesn't seem plausible to me - seems that some pilot skills (well in excess of what the 9/11 guys had) and some inside knowledge was needed.

So far (no ransom demand - or claim of responsibility for a terrorist act), the pilot has to be the main suspect - he's flipped his lid prior to that flight, carefully planned.
