There is no mention of the form not being needed anymore, the form will be updated in regards to the vaccination no doubt. Why should we have to fill out a form while on holiday providing such detailed information such as our flight numbers, dates of travel and even TIMES of travel when all of this information is probably loaded into our passport when checking in etc.

We are essentially being forced to provide unnecessary information for what they say is "contact tracing" (contact tracing was largely ditched a long time ago), in order to get our qr code (permission) to return home. Id like to see this challenged in court based on the same grounds the grounded kiwis took the government to court on (the right to return home). They won that case and it was deemed the government acted beyond their powers in only not supplying enough quarantine facilities to let kiwis come home.

They've already updated the form. Its now an annoying duplication of effort as it asks the same questions as the Incoming Passenger Card!

Personally I think if they insist on keeping it, make it relevant - ditch the Incoming Passenger Card as standard, add the remaining questions from the card, call it a Digital IPC, and make it an option. Keep the cards for those who didn't fill it in before boarding the plane, and improve the arrivals experience.

I guess the answer is "contact tracing". But that's not done any more, so I agree it's irrelevant. This govt are not exactly renowned for acting quickly in the face of overwhelming evidence though - look at how long they insisted on keeping MIQs open

To be honest, I don't even know why the paper IPC asks when you left and arrived, let alone the traveller declaration. They already have that information from the flight's passenger manifest APIS data. Always felt like they were just asking for the sake of asking.

Not to mention, when you fill in the NZTD the time of departure (which you likely took off the flight schedule) has about a 70:30 chance of being several hours out anyway with how poor on-time-performance has been with all airlines lately.

I think it extremely weird the nitpicking going on here. It's a simple form.

Back in the day you needed to show your "traveller declaration pass" at Check in,

I'm told its not so heavily enforced now, but I'm guessing there is a process that the NZ Govt needs to follow to advise global airlines to stop checking the pass, ( if they decide to junk it) - and that's once it get removed by amending some covid rules,

The passenger arrival card exists under totally separate customs legislation,

I suspect there is a great big "inter departmental working group" being convened as we speak to work out which one will live and which one will die...

Nobody needs to upload vaccine information, so it should not even be there.

Why do a 5 min exercise if it is pointless and could only be used to potentially stop you from entering your home country on which you are supposed to have the right of return to under international law.

Why has NZ held on to this system when all other countries who used something similar have ditched it?

Think it would be a 5 min exercise for everyone? including the elderly?

Its government overreach and it's BS

Sigh, I know. I doubt paper will die out completely, it's unfair to expect all travellers to have access to a computer with internet access or a smartphone (won't someone think of the elderly!) but it would be nice to have the option to not have to worry about filling in that little card on the plane now that they have a framework to follow. I never have a pen handy!

Agree, This means you must have access to a computer or smart phone with internet access while overseas, take time out of your holiday to check your itinerary for flight details, load them all on to this form, submit it, wait for an email with your QR code. Hope like hell your phone is charged when you are at the airport so you can present your permission to travel home to the check out counter.

I cant believe some (abiet a minority) people do not see the problem with this, especially when there is absolutely no justifiable reason for it, look at the size of this thread since my original post, and yet not one post can provide a reason why this traveler pass is necessary.

I did it before i have left....i return within the 21 days (I think it was)
