Air travellers can now use phones, e-readers, tablets and MP3 players from gate-to-gate after the Civil Aviation Authority relaxed its rules around handheld portable electronic devices. Provided electronic devices are in non-transmitting mode, Air New Zealand will from this month allow them to be used for the duration of flights, the airline said today

networkn: It's always been a strange thing really. If it was really that big of a deal, how come more planes don't crash when people "forget" :) 



It's not the electronic signals they worry about.
It's so people don't get distracted if an emergency occur during takeoff and landing.
