That doesn't exactly fill me with joy.

 

 

Take any speech, that may or may not include jokes, extract a snippet then spin it. Seems to me that Wikileaks likes taking things out of context and turning it into a conspiracy. (I'm not a fan of Clinton by any means & consider her dangerous, but Wikileaks has forgotten it was supposed to be about bringing truth to light).

 

 

 

 

Yeah, I have considerable concerns about a potential commander and chief who makes "jokes" about such things, or uses them in ANY context.

 

Thankfully she can't act on this without approval, but still, it gives me misgivings.

It looks like Trump is threatening in an attempt to stop that. As for closing media outlets hopefully he will never get that chance.


He won't do either. He can't risk suing anyone. The moment he does it unleashes discovery and every single thing he has ever done in the company of any female becomes something that can be investigated. Women that haven't come forward now would be protected from law suits by being called as witnesses. If Trump has one iota of dirty anything in his closet he can't risk taking legal action. Even the claims made during his divorce would be up for exposure. Nope, his legal team aren't stupid. He won't sue. 


Agree. Trump legal counsel have a history of making some very nasty threats backed up with legal misinformation.

Agree. In USA that legal advice could cost a normal person life savings and security just leading up to a court date.

I see that polls have her 5 points in front, 49 to 44. Thats just a 2.5 point swing needed to even it up. In elections, not everyone votes. Too cold, too busy, lazy, etc.  Now, I'd say that there would be literally no Trump voters who wont vote, they are so into it, and he's behind. Her, I'd expect the typical national average of non voters to happen, maybe a bit less than normal. Wiki is about to release another another anti Clinton leak

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

 

According to Trump loyalists, the Clinton supporters vote twice, so the real poll should be 98 vs 44, for a record 142% turnout.

I saw a comment on one pro Trump youtube video from a guy who said he was a truck driver who regularly drives through several states.    He reckons that he is seeing Trump Pence yard/lawnnsigns all over but almost no Clinton signs.     This could be:

 

A.)    A sign of enthusiasm for Trump.

 

B.)    An indication that people do not want to pay $20 for a Clinton sign. (Trump campaign gives them away!)

 

C.)    Understandable, as truck drivers drive through poorer parts of cities populated by the 'deplorables.'

 

Joking aside I have seen a lot of comments about the lack of Clinton signs though...

Yeah, if you read the Michael Moore article where he gives 5 reasons why Trump could win.    He says 'Whose crazed fans are going to be up at 5 AM on Election Day, kicking ass all day long, all the way until the last polling place has closed, making sure every Tom, Dick and Harry (and Bob and Joe and Billy Bob and Billy Joe and Billy Bob Joe) has cast his ballot?'

 

 

 

As for getting out the vote I wonder how many people get a free ride in a car to cast their vote & then vote for the other side!     Doing that would be a hoot!    Luckily in NZ we don't have to stand in a line for two hours to vote.

I doubt it. The crazed fans will be far too busy checking that every Alejandro, LeBron and Ahmed (and Shanice and Aaliyah, and Maria, Fatima and Ayesha) do not vote.

We can only hope the crazed fans don't do any ass kicking in the process because we know some of them would like to do exactly that.

Edit: Given the atmosphere created by the candidate I'd be surprised if some form of voter intimidation did not occur on a small scale.

I support neither candidate and I've not really been keeping up with this thread, but I can't help but think how hilarious a Trump presidency would be.  Hilary would be very same-same type boring president.  Trump however would be a barrel of laughs on my way to work for an additional 4 years other and above this one.

 

I know there are many that think Trump is going to win, but I personally can't see it.  I feel as if Hilary was the chosen one from the beginning.  The drama has been fun though.  The odds of an American Brexit from the safety of their war mongering presidents are slim to none.  Even though Trump has stumped millions the world around just by how far he has come, I think he will be walking away without the special hat this year.

That is how I felt about Bush Jr. One invasion of Iraq later I was not laughing. Boring and somewhat predictable looks like a good option compared to disasters like that.

At this point, boring and predictable does mean more disastrous invasions. Clinton was one of the architects of the last 8 years of foreign policy, and you'll note that 'signature strike' extrajudicial drone assassinations as well as prosecutions for journalists uncovering government wrongdoing both increased significantly under the Obama administration.

 

So, maybe she won't make a snap decision to nuke Beijing because the premier said something unflattering about her hair, but she'll certainly stick her nose in wherever she wants.

Despite being Secretary of State, I'm not sure that Clinton had much influence in the Obama administration overall. Also, Clinton was Secretary of State for Obama's first term only. Even so she was largely responsible for the decision to intervene in Libya and similar things. So, yes I agree. On that basis she seems more inclined that way and of course the darker part of the Obama administration's use of drones can only continue.

Pretty had to know if her rumoured suggestion back then of droning Assange actually occured and was serious. Joking or not this is not a great thing when the CIA will be reporting to her and the CIA is carrying out the vast vast majority of the drone strikes in ahem peacetime.
