I think Trump supporters are probably more likely to cheer for him and boo her at every opportunity. ...

DarthKermit:

That's something about American politics I've always found strange. Public officials identify themselves as (R) or (D). Our civil servants are strictly required to be politically neutral in their jobs.

When they talk about 'The Administration' in relation to the presidency they really mean it. Just under 2000 or so of those positions are appointed by the president winning office for that term.

From there each of those 2000 are somewhat influential and themselves have some hire and fire ability to varying degrees. Not to mention procurement influence etc etc.

You may be getting the picture about now : ).

At one stage they passed a law about not appointing family members.

Even at the top level of what passes for a cabinet there is no requirement that those appointed are or have been ever a member of either house. Ie; ever elected.

From there it's easy to understand why it gets very messy and why they complain about private sector appointments and politicisation.

I'm not sure it is true that nz civil servants are required to be politically neutral. I'm guessing they have the same freedoms as anyone else. I think it is more around their responsibilities and things like that in relation to what they are working on. From memory for instance Christine Rankin held many non-political civil service positions while being politically in public alignment with one party which was both in and out of government during those positions.

Well, I'm thinking, hold all tickets

I read that early this week, betting figures at Paddy Power are 91% on Trump. His odds have dropped to 2/1. Even before Oxt 28 email release, the betting was 50/50

I read that she is winning states (polls I assume), he is winning states.

We all focus on Clinton vs Trump, but the election is Democrats vs Republicans, and I always felt that they are sick of Obama and nothing getting done, time for a change etc. Given the race is tightening, and if they had a regular candidate, GOP would be all over this election. But they are still in it, despite him. When the rubber meets the road, the voting paper meets the voting bin, he has a real shot. The votes may well go Republican, despite him, and anti Clinton, because of her and Democrats lack of action

CNN night for me Nov 9. I can see this going to the wire, 50.1% vs 49.9%

The irony of this is that Obama got "nothing done" because he has been systematically blocked by the Republicans.  undecided

Exactly. Democracy, gets a mandate, gets out voted by the Senate, bizarre

What you said, but to me, I think the Republicans will win.   That to me is why Trump will win, he will get in despite himself. Otherwise I felt it would have been a Republican landslide with anyone else

This thread has been dormant for a while. In that time there were several came out with gropeing type experiences related to Trump. Miss Finland for example.

In other news the alleged Trump/Epstein child sex victim is holding a press conference today.

Sometime later I'd be surprised if there is not something about Trump and that drug runner guy he was associated with. There would have to be something financial there for Trump to be interested I assume.

yes whatever dirt you throw at trump doesn't degrade his chances because that's who he is and that's what his supporters like about him. the 2 of them are playing by 2 different sets of rules.

That isn't really true. Particularly with the 50℅ of the US population with the potential to be most affected by this kind of behaviour. I'm sure even the minority of republican religious reason type voters have their limits.

The real question here is how much are the republican party gonna let trump run wild with. And how much will they tie his hands together.

I have heard rumours the Washington Elite have decided to impeach him at some point over his tax evasion and possibly other items and let Pence run the presidency since they believe they can control him.

I wondered that, win-win for everyone in the US

Yeh rumor goes, that Pence is very close to republican party, and quite manageable. And Donald will be reasonably easy to dig up dirt on.
They will easily get support from Democrats in the Senate after such a dirty race.

Everyone except the Democrats, immigrants, poor, ...

But pretty bizarre that *whichever* candidate wins, they will likely be impeached. Best to choose based on your preferred vice-President.
