msukiwi:freitasm:This is on Trump:
Unfortunately, they will vote him back in!
Yup. @Sidestep's analysis is both likely and depressing.
kingdragonfly: Some in the administration feared that an announcement recommending that all Americans wear masks would open them up to accusations that they got it wrong at the onset.
"Strategy is not letting the enemy know you're out of ammunition by continuing to fire".
freitasm:I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories but this is one that's not too far-fetched:
"What if we were to learn that Trump suppressed scary information re COVID-19 (and the needed federal response) in January to postpone the economic turndown until it could no longer endanger his Senate acquittal? Retweet if you wouldn’t be surprised by his making that tradeoff."
Seems unlikely, that ascribes far too much intelligence and planning ability to him. He's delusional, not machiavellian. The economy will only keep going up and up and up while he's in charge, so nothing to worry about, and certainly no need to do anything like that.
freitasm:And here we go. Let the grifters grift: "Mr. Trump himself has a small personal financial interest in Sanofi, the French drugmaker that makes Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/06/us/politics/coronavirus-trump-malaria-drug.html
If he's got a highly diverse portfolio he's probably got at least some interest in everything imaginable. It wouldn't surprise me if many Kiwisaver participants have a small personal financial interest in Sanofi via some fund or other. This is almost certainly conicidence. Remember, he's a delusional narcissist, what he's worried about is his image, not a 0.003% stake in the company. If he can make it go away by promising a miracle cure, he's won.
Having the Trump supporters leap from one conspiracy theory to the next is bad enough, we don't have to copy them.
SJB:I see the moron is now starting to blame the WHO for the virus and is threatening to stop funding them.
In the middle of a pandemic. Words, as usual where he is concerned. fail me.
I've seen that too, I use my Trump-fan friend (who is actually a really nice person, just fell into the rabbit hole some time ago) as a litmus test and they just posted a long screed about how heads must roll at the WHO and their director-general must burn. Which is a pretty good indicator that Trump and Fox have recently started attacking the WHO in an attempt to divert blame.
kingdragonfly: I wonder if he'd feel the same way, if the WHO head was an American white old male named something like "John Miller" instead of an Ethiopian named Tedros Adhanom.
It makes it easier, and Tedros is an obvious target for him, but he's really attacking the institution as a whole in order to shift blame. Just to give some background on Tedros:
He trained 40,000 female health workers, improved laboratories, created ambulance fleets and multiplied medical school graduates tenfold. Deaths from AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, as well as deaths of young children and women in childbirth, fell by more than 50 percent
He did all this in Ethiopia. No wonder they made him head of the WHO.
He has a new press secretary that is the epitome of The Dumb.
We won't see coronavirus here... and the others words of a very dumb human being
“They Are a Clown Show”: Media Orgs Wrestle With Covering Trump’s Campaign-Rally COVID-19 Briefings
Why are journalists skipping Trump’s daily coronavirus briefing? Not enough news to risk their health
If Trump really screws up the covid19 thing and the death toll gets into five or even six figures, I hope that destroys his re-election chances.
they knew about it in Nov. (guess why he blames China - this is evidenceproof they knew about it in Nov)
