EDIT 2: A fair headline might be "Early Border Closures Bought US Precious Time, Which Was Then Squandered by Administrations Subsequent Inaction"

Just don't ask him about it, look at what he did to that CNBC(?) reporter who asked "what did you do in February with all the time you bought us?".

BBC News - Trump halts funding to WHO

Short answer: EU initiates donor conference for vaccine development

In order to raise money worldwide for the development and production of a vaccine against Covid-19, the EU Commission is organizing an online donor conference on May 4th. This will help to close immediate funding gaps, said Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen. Together with EU Council President Charles Michel, she proposed such a conference at a video conference of the G20 countries at the end of March.

Since the Twitter CEO has set the standard by putting aside $1B for Covid19, maybe an adult could step in and fund the WHO for the amount the toddler-in-chief has withheld, Bezos or Zuckerberg could easily do it.

What I find interesting about this cartoon is it's source: it's from Alabama.

Alabama is the most conservative state in the US. Real "Bible thumpers." In Alabama, it's often said "Thank God for Mississippi.... because it's the only state that keeps Alabama from being on the bottom of lists."

The corona virus is hitting the African American hardest. Alabama is 26.2% African American. In Louisiana, where 32 percent of the population is African American, that group accounted for 70 percent of COVID-19-related deaths. In Michigan, 40 percent of those who died were African American even though the group accounts for 13 percent of the population statewide.

Perhaps it means Trump will have a tougher time for a reelection in states with large African American population, even if they're heavily conservative.

Contrary to what Trump tells his supporters, I'm not "rooting for the virus." Only a psychopath would.

Psychopaths would be happy about their TV ratings during a mass die off of the people they're supposed to be protecting.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES REPORT ATTEMPT TO ALTER THE U.S. CONSTITUTION WITH A SHARPIE.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—An unknown person attempted to scrawl the words “TOTAL AUTHORITY” on the United States Constitution with a Sharpie, the National Archives reported on Tuesday.

A security guard spotted the attempted vandalism on Tuesday morning, when he noticed “something weird” on the glass case protecting the priceless historical document.

“Someone had written the words in big block letters,” the security guard said. “Plus, both ‘total’ and ‘authority’ were misspelled.”

“It looked like the work of a small child, but there were no school groups here because of the coronavirus and whatnot,” he added. “So it’s a real mystery.”

Harland Dorrinson, a spokesperson for the National Archives, said that, even though the Constitution was unharmed, the Police are launching a “full investigation” to find the lunatic who attempted to deface the document.

“Somewhere in Washington, there’s a person on the loose who obviously hates the wording of our Constitution and probably, our legal system.” he said. "They need to be stopped before they shift their focus to crimes against the American people."

So in the USA the fed are giving everyone a $1200 cheque but have delay the sending of them so they could put Trumps name on them.

So there is now a new currency name

The Irish have the Punt

The USA now has the "Cheque Using Name Trump"

Somehow, it seems appropriate.

Scary to see how effective the Trump/Fox disinformation machine is. Slashspot was, as of a few hours ago, so US daytime, wall-to-wall with Trump monkeys shouting how everything was China's fault, via the WHO which apparently is controlled entirely by China. Everyone who said otherwise was modded or shouted down.

Be interesting to see how things change when non-US daytime hours roll around.

I know this is invoking Poe's law, "without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied", but are those real or trolls?
