White House sycophants have got to grow some and stop deferring to Trump. His incompetence and stupidity are costing lives. At some point even arse-kissing Republicans have to say 'enough' and invoke the 25th Amendment. It is there for a reason. Trump is a madman. He is incapable of distinguishing reality from fantasy. He instructs his idolising followers to do dumb, dangerous things. He is demonstrably incapacitated.

Recent discoveries are revealing that the Corona 19 virus is even more dangerous than first realised, and there are possibly added dangers that have not yet emerged. We may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg. This thing could come back again and again, killing people of all ages in currently unsuspected ways. Trump is a clear and present danger to his country and the world. Those who know better have to quit biting their tongues and sitting in polite silence while he raves. The time for polite silence is over. If there is to be a post-virus America at all, the entire cabinet needs to stand up and frog-march this lunatic out of the room.

At this point America is in desperate need of a real leader. I don't think Pence fills that bill at all, but he would still be infinitely better than Trump. Unintelligent and ideology-driven as he is, he does seem to at least listen to advice and be willing to make pragmatic decisions. He might just be capable of keeping the country alive until the next election. Anything has to be better than the current train wreck. Trump is an imbecile. For the sake of us all, he has to go.

I have just mentioned to wife that the Dr should have just stood up and said in front of everyone "Mr President this is wrong, it will kill people and is not based on any scientific study".

Wife told me then Trump would appoint some unexperienced idiot from his ranks - possible another role for Jared and the world would be even worse.

That article is behind a subscription pay wall. Anywhere else we might be able to read it ?

Sorry. WP initially said virus-related articles were exempted from paywall. It is easy to bypass but I don't want to get banned. I see a note on the site that if you sign up for the newsletter, you also get all virus articles. Maybe that is a way to do it.

The article is about younger people suffering massive strokes and other blood clot-related issues that could be as bad or worse as the lung damage. It also points to other potential damage and an apparent currently imperfect understanding of just what the virus is capable of. An implication of this (which the article doesn't make) is that people who recover from the virus might have lasting damage that only emerges over time. All of this makes Trumps lunatic ravings about malaria medications and injecting sanitiser or magic light rays even worse than they already are. They have got to get rid of that moron so serious information can be provided.

Hmmm... I wonder what disabling Javascript for the WashingtonPost.com and NYTimes.com would do? Surely it can't be that simple? Oh well, I guess I'll never know :p

If you do a search for the headline, there are links to the article on Reddit and The Atlantic, as well as elsewhere. It shouldn't be difficult to find a copy.

That won't work, pretty much by definition, the reason insecure/despotic leaders like Trump surround themselves with toadies is to ensure they'll never be challenged. He's stacked the cards to ensure he always gets his way, and people like Dr.Fauci have Hobson's choice of either trying to do the best they can or criticising the Dear Leader and being immediately replaced with another labradoodle breeder.

For anything like that, wait at least a week or two for more investigation to be done before going into zomg-we're-all-going-to-die mode. There could be any number of reasons behind this, and in particular if it's heart-related it could be because they tried Dr.Trump's miracle cure.

The WashingtonPost is one of the very few media I pay a subscription for (the other being The Guardian and Wired). I know Mr Bezos owns WP and they wouldn't necessarily need my money if he gets really invested but sometimes companies are separate entities (as we've seen from the Bauer debacle here in New Zealand) so I do a bit.

On another hand, I feel for NZME and Stuff and almost think of paying something but the amount of clickbait is incredible and put me off. But please don't discuss this further as it is completely off topic of the shenanigans of Donald Orange Man Trump.

The Washington Post - Trump claims controversial comment about injecting disinfectants was ‘sarcastic’

today

Amid a flurry of backlash and ridicule, President Trump walked back his suggestion that scientists test whether disinfectants, such as bleach, could be injected inside the human body to fight the coronavirus, claiming Friday that he had said it sarcastically. ...

When asked Friday during a bill signing in the Oval Office to expand upon this, Trump said it was not intended as a serious suggestion.

“I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen,” Trump said. ...

Yeah, right!

This man is a danger to humanity. Letting him continue in office is like not reporting a drunk driver. He really needs to go, sooner rather than later.

Trump Speech to Bring 1,000 West Point Cadets Back to Campus.

Mr. Trump told reporters that he would be speaking at the West Point graduation in the near future, noting that he did not like the look of a socially distanced graduation and that he hoped the “look” of the ceremony would be “nice and tight.”

These poor guys signed up to (potentially) die for their country, and now they're going to die for a Trump photo-op instead.
