At least there's a bright side - we don't have to move to NZ to avoid living in the Trump Empire.

mattwnz:

It is interesting how much the US media are still saying it could go either way, and may come down to single state.

I think they're still keen on retaining viewers/readers.

My quick count, the minimum Trump will get is 275.  Not much doubt now that he will be the next president.

I've always said that Americans are just mad enough to vote Trumpy in. Hell, they voted the shrub in twice and look what an idiot he was.

Maybe it will push up house prices as people move to NZ. Oh wait, that has already happened.

It is amazing in the US how in some states you can vote, and then later change your vote later. Also people can campaign during the voting.  NZs system just sounds so much better, albeit a bit Draconian . I wonder how it would have fared if the FBI stuff hadn't come out last week.

Ever hopeful?

Anyone else see the similarities with Brexit here? Rise of the working man in outrage at the way the "elite" have been treating their concerns... not always the result they want (or in this case the candidate they need) but flipping the bird to the big guy is still the goal!

Yes.  Also that there are "false prophets" pushing what really is a socialist nationalist agenda.  It's not just the "elites" in the gunsights, but minorities to pin the blame on.  Very scary.

He has been here though!

Btw, a draw is quite possible with the US system.

That could create some big problems.

Yes it is basically Brexit all over again, although this was more predicted.

The scary thing is that it is likely to happen in NZ too. The divide between rich and poor has grown, and the current two big parties are so similar, that many people are wanting a change. At the moment, many people will never be able to afford to buy a house NZ, due to the prices being so high, and wages are so relatively low compared to house prices. That is going to create a lot of negative feelings.

Unlikely though, as Trump almost has the 27o to win. And even if there is, they will likely vote for a republican.

Holy smokes.

I've seen people on Reddit say "If I knew Trump was going to win, I wouldn't of voted for him". I mean WTF. How stupid is that comment.
