Batman:

2. Putin's ego was bruised and he orders wanton destruction

3. we are now at risk of a big war as the west could not bear to watch and do nothing with 2.

This is ALL about Putins ego. Like Hitler

The West cannot do anything as UKR is not NATO and there is a thing called International Law. Now, if some atrocities occurred, then thats another deal.

1. Putins role models are Stalin and Peter the Great

2. Putin cannot deal with 1991

3. This is not the first action towards re uniting the USSR

4. Cold War was not great, how about a USSR/China cold war?

I'm not so sure about that. From contacts in the Ukraine, outside of the areas where active fighting is taking place there are Russian troops wandering around not really knowing what to do and unsure why they're there at all. If the troops are already that demotivated in relatively friendly territory - some of this was from Ukrainians going up to chat to them - I doubt their leaders will risk sending them against other countries.

Their ground forces have no real skills. Putin is not loved by everyone in Russia. Its a one man band to create a Tzar legacy based on ego. He is been personnally sanctioned, now thats meaningless, but look at the very few others that have been also. This is a Kim Jong Ill scenario. One man, one ego. Like Hitler. (Hoope thats FUG friendly?

I also read his popularity is declining. Ego. Self Centred. Its a pity for the Russian people also

The Ukrainian President has proved to be one hell of a leader. "I need ammunition, not a ride".

100%. Although him and his government are drug addicts, nazis and he is Jewish. Israel has a large population of Russians and Ukrainians, Jews. Friends.

I saw some protesters in Aotea Square this afternoon. Unlike the other mob, these people had a legitimate purpose, and I was going to ask them how to donate to the Ukrainian cause.

I see that border nations, Hungary, Poland, have discarded Visa's etc. There are millions of people involved directly or indirectly. One is an ar se hole, the rest are people

I have no idea what you are on about. But this is the second time invoking Godwin's Law and there are no excuses for it.

Another point: There have been numerous documented cases of Ukrainians using their bodies as human shields to try and hold up Russian armour. Instead of machine-gunning them, the Russian vehicles tried to drive around them. This is nothing like any standard war, and certainly nothing like WWII which it's been compared to.

It also shows how severely Putin misread the situation if he thought he could fight a traditional WWII-style campaign.

Warning this the Daily Mail.
Putin is 'prepared to lose 50,000 troops' intelligence chiefs claim as leaked document reveals Moscow is bracing for 'medical emergency' from Ukraine invasion
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10556007/Leaked-document-reveals-Moscow-preparing-medical-emergency-drafting-medics.html

From what we have seen of Putin, I'm sure its not sacrifice to him, so no limits for his dream.
So this article could be both sensationalist guess and understated at the same time.

Maybe like mad Emperors of past he thinks he can get elevated to Godhood and cheat death.

Oh apparently there is still a pandemic too.

Unfortunately unlike N. Korea, Russia is rich in natural resources such as iron ore (used to produce steel), gas, and oil that many countries (particularly European) depend on. Russian natural gas supplies most of western europe especially Germany. That's why the Gerrman desicion to shut Nordstream came as a surprise.

Yes, Im aware of that. Its also rich in cash reserves its being building up. What Im saying is that they are one country, they dont supply 85% of anything to the globe.

Take crude oil, including other liquid oil based products. They produce 11% of it. If the other major nations can increase production as can smaller producers, that can pick ups  lot of slack. Clearly that switch can't be tuned on tomorrow, but if you have a role nation, you need to do what you can to reduce its power, in my example, oil power. Reduce their bargaining power by reducing the need for their resources.

The article below should answer your questions..

Sorry for the screenshot length it seems spoiler codes don't work - unless I'm doing something wrong??

He is referring to Putins speech, maybe a bit harsh with the ban?

I think people understood that bit, it was the rest of it that went off into the weeds.

I suspect he was being sarcastic in that post,  And the one man band is in reference to Putin

Which makes the original Putin speech he was quoting ironic (which was word for word what Putin said), as Putin himself fits that persona much better than Zelenskyy.

Its such a heart breaking situation, and one cant help but feel NZ approach is too weak.  As a father of young children the imagery of these men saying goodbye to their families is just soul destroying and unimaginable, and yet it is happening..
