He could go under house arrest or something though, couldn't he? Detained at Trump tower or Maralago or whatever the hell it's called. That would keep him imprisoned, in a way.

So that would then make his tax paid secret service detail his jailers for life.

Be great if he had to wear an ankle bracelet that restricted his movement to, say, only Mar-a-lago. Oh poor Humpty Dumpty no more golf. Maybe he could put in a 9 hole Putt Putt course 😀

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I read a science fiction story once about an international conspiracy of mega-rich industrialists who destroy the earth’s ability to sustain life through their rapacious exploitation of resources, then use their wealth to build a secret space force and emigrate to the moon. Everything goes as planned and they succeed in settling into their luxurious lunar condos as the earth disintegrates. At this point, as the story ends, they discover that they are all such thoroughly unpleasant people that they actually can’t stand each other’s company, which they are stuck with for the rest of their unhappy lives. Something like that might work for Trump.

One can always hope. Trump doesn't read and he's not very bright. I doubt he has retained any state secrets worth passing on.

My thoughts exactly. Can you imagine the poor FSB plant in prison trying to get state secrets out of Trump? "The Jewish space lasers, did I tell you about the Jewish space lasers? They were used to start the fires in Australia. I kept safe from them by drinking bleach, two cups every day. Did I tell you about...".

Even if Trump is sentenced, how do you think an ex-President would be in prison? They have had access to state secrets, you can't just put him in any prison where he could be in contact with some third party agent. He can't be in isolation forever.

There is no way this guy ends up in prison, where he belongs.

The ex-President intelligence briefings are not set in stone. It is only a convention. He can be cut off if Biden wants it. Most don't take up the briefings on a regular basis. I think Carter limited his to his humanitarian efforts. Mostly related to the eradication of the Guinea worm IIRC.

Yes, I know. Please read again. "They have had". I am not talking about ongoing access but the information collected or learnt over the four years he was in the White House.

It's wonderful; I no longer frown (or voice loud expletives) as I follow this thread.

The Guardian - Value judgment: Donald Trump tumbles down billionaires’ rankings

today

While the richest got spectacularly richer during the pandemic, the ex-president plummeted nearly 300 places in the Forbes list.

It’s been a glorious pandemic for the world’s richest people.

Forbes annual billionaire poll includes a record-breaking 2,755 billionaires, with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos once again topping the list, the media company said on Tuesday.

The ranks of the super wealthy swelled as the coronavirus pandemic threatened the lives and livelihoods of millions across the planet but stock markets continued to hit new highs. ...

Not everyone was a winner.

According to the latest list, Donald Trump’s standing among other billionaires has plummeted almost 300 places since 2020, down to No 1,299.

The humiliating fall sits on Forbes’ list next to a quote from the former president reading: “I took a lot of finance courses at Wharton. First they taught you all the rules and regulations. Then they taught you that those rules and regulations are really meant to be broken.”

Son of Giuliani plans to run for governor of New York state:

Stuff: In 2008, he sued Duke University, saying he had been improperly cut from the golf team. The school said the cut was proper and based on bullying behaviour, which Giuliani denied.

He lost.
