Rather than "draining the swamp" Trump and any associates are the swamp.

The Alabama Congressman "Mo Brooks" blamed rising sea levels on rocks falling in the water.

He called the Alabama governor's very limited coronavirus mitigation efforts “nanny-state” directives. and further claimed no American had died from coronavirus, when the WHO said a half-million lives were lost

Mo Brooks said Roy Moore's sexual assault on a 16 year old didn't matter because Moore will "vote right."

The Guardian: Republican says Trump asked him to ‘rescind’ 2020 election and remove Biden from office

The Alabama Republican congressman Mo Brooks said on Tuesday Donald Trump asked him to “rescind” the 2020 election, remove Joe Biden from the White House and reinstate Trump.

The extraordinary statement came in an angry response to a withdrawn endorsement in a US Senate race. Trump was angered that Brooks was insufficiently toeing his line on calling the 2020 election a fraud.

Brooks’ statement is likely to be of interest to the January 6 committee. The panel is investigating Trump’s lie about electoral fraud in his defeat by Biden, efforts to marshal members of Congress to object to election results, a rally near the White House on 6 January 2021 which Trump and Brooks addressed, and the deadly attack on the US Capitol that followed.

On Wednesday, after Trump withdrew his endorsement, Brooks said he was still in the Alabama race as the only true Trumpist candidate. He also claimed to have known he risked losing the former president’s endorsement by telling him “the truth”...

... “President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency.

“As a lawyer, I’ve repeatedly advised President Trump that 6 January was the final election contest verdict and neither the US constitution nor the US Code [the laws of the United States] permit what President Trump asks. Period.”

Brooks also said he “took a sworn oath to defend and protect the US constitution”, an oath he said he would “break … for no man”.

However, Brooks has until now been one of Trump’s most ardent supporters, including on and around the events of 6 January.

Addressing the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse in Washington DC, Brooks said: “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass.

“Now, our ancestors sacrificed their blood, their sweat, their tears, their fortunes and sometimes their lives … Are you willing to do the same? My answer is yes. Louder! Are you willing to do what it takes to fight for America?”

Problem is, the person Trump wants to win (Katie Britt) instead of Brooks is a 100% Trump acolyte, which will only be worse.

The Washington Post - Opinion - Donald Trump’s disloyalty may finally come back to bite him

today

Defeated former president Donald Trump is notorious for turning on allies if they fail to show sufficient loyalty. ...

But disloyalty can come back to bite you.

On Wednesday, Trump yanked his endorsement from staunch supporter Rep. Mo Brooks for a Senate seat in Alabama, faulting Brooks for not wanting to dwell on the 2020 race.

Brooks struck back with a damning written statement:

“The only legal way America can prevent 2020’s election debacle is for patriotic Americans to focus on and win the 2022 and 2024 elections so that we have the power to enact laws that give us honest and accurate elections,”

“President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency.”

“As a lawyer, I’ve repeatedly advised President Trump that Jan. 6 was the final election contest verdict and neither the U.S. Constitution nor the U.S. Code permit what President Trump asks. Period.”

This account, if true, is invaluable to the Jan. 6 committee and to any criminal investigation given the difficulty in proving Trump’s “criminal intent.” ..

Washington Post: Wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, urged White House chief to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 election, texts show

Virginia Thomas, a conservative [lawyer] activist married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, repeatedly pressed White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in a series of urgent text exchanges in the critical weeks after the vote, according to copies of the messages obtained by The Washington Post and CBS News.

The messages — 29 in all — reveal an extraordinary pipeline between Virginia Thomas, who goes by Ginni, and President Donald Trump’s top aide during a period when Trump and his allies were vowing to go to the Supreme Court in an effort to negate the election results.

On Nov. 10, after news organizations had projected Joe Biden the winner based on state vote totals, Thomas wrote to Meadows:

Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!...You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History.

When Meadows wrote to Thomas on Nov. 24, the White House chief of staff invoked God to describe the effort to overturn the election.

This is a fight of good versus evil ... Evil always looks like the victor until the King of Kings triumphs. Do not grow weary in well doing. The fight continues. I have staked my career on it. Well at least my time in DC on it.

What does this imply for her husband, who is in an untouchable position of power in the Supreme Court?

Clarence Thomas

"Clarence Thomas is the second black justice and the only one currently sitting on the bench.

"As a Supreme Court justice, Thomas is notorious for his lack of questions during oral arguments.

"While many justices use questions to show their opinion on an issue or communicate with the other justices as to their feelings on a case, Thomas remains silent – but that does not hinder the other justices from discerning his thoughts.

"His reputation of conservativism guides their predictions.

"He has shown his opinions to lean farther right than any other justice on the bench today.  ... "

Good grief. The wife of a sitting Supreme Judge tried to overturn the 2020 election results. This is an absolute scandal. Clarence Thomas should resign.

No surprise is that she is quoting from the New Testament bible, Paul's Galatians.

It's funny because Paul discusses the law and the "“works of the flesh" quite a bit.

Depending who you talk to the "law" can mean everything from
  • ignore the Old Testament (don't be so Jewish)
  • or ignore all governments laws, instead adhere our new set of religious laws

Theologists can't even agree on "works of flesh." It ranges from the circumcisions to the entirety of civilization (nothing is important but faith, because the faithful get magical prizes when they die).

Every theologian believes their group's interpretation of Paul's Galatians is the correct and obvious one; other groups who disagrees are at best stupid or worse should be hunted down and killed.

I watched the whole clip and found it very interesting, not because I'm religious - I'm not. An agnostic with atheistic leanings is about where I'm at.

But what I took from the guy's talk was that much - maybe most - of the Bible is confusing claptrap.

IMHO, all the book needs is one page - one sentence, even.

GINNI THOMAS ACCUSES CRITICS OF IGNORING HER THIRTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO SUPREME COURT.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Assailed for her texts to the former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, Ginni Thomas accused her critics of ignoring her three decades of exemplary service as a Supreme Court Justice Assistant.

“For the past thirty years, I have listened to oral arguments, studied legal precedents, and supplied my husband with every reasoned response he's needed,” Thomas said. “All in all, I am confident that I have earned a place in history.”

Thomas added that after reading some of the criticism that followed her opinions, she was “shocked and hurt", that her spotless record as a Supreme Court Justice Aide could be so casually swept aside.

"My husband's position is also threatened," she warned. "Without my advice, he may be unable to carry on."
