Actually, I think his picks for cabinet show that he is, and will be, controlled by the Republican Party after all. He's shown that his anti-establishmentarianism was just unsupportable rhetoric.

 

In which case, I don't think the WW3 risk is as high as it could have been, because an annihilated world would play hell with the stock market.

Trump won't start WW3 deliberately - he will do it accidentally, due to his incompetence, his arrogance, and his total lack of diplomatic skills.

I'm pretty sure even the GOP aren't fans of the KKK and maybe even entirely not supportive of the head of Exxon having any power. They're happy to take their lobbying money, but when someone else has the power.....

Just because you are 70 years old, doesn't mean you will necessarily develop dementia.

 

Woah, slow down buddy - I did not say that because he was 70 he has dementia. I said he is 70 and shows signs of it. It is well known that the older you get the higher the likelihood you have some cognitive impairment. There are people who will show signs of dementia at half Trump's age and those that will have near perfect cognitive function at 100+. 

 

About 3% of people between the ages of 65–74 have dementia, 19% between 75 and 84 and nearly half of those over 85 years of age. Long-term studies suggest that 15 to 20 percent of those aged 65 and older may have at least a mild cognitive impairment.

 

 

So, what signs of dementia is he now exhibiting?

 

 

The following is a passage from Wikipedia on Alzheimer's disease - the cause of 60% to 70% of cases of dementia. I've bolded the symptoms that I see in Trump. As someone who has seen family members go through significant cognitive decline, I see many similarities in his behaviour - but I am of course not a doctor or an expert, it's just my observation and opinion. 

 

Subtle problems with the executive functions of attentiveness, planning, flexibility, and abstract thinking, or impairments in semantic memory (memory of meanings, and concept relationships) can also be symptomatic of the early stages of AD. Apathy can be observed at this stage, and remains the most persistent neuropsychiatric symptom throughout the course of the disease. Depressive symptoms, irritability and reduced awareness of subtle memory difficulties are also common. The preclinical stage of the disease has also been termed mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This is often found to be a transitional stage between normal ageing and dementia. MCI can present with a variety of symptoms, and when memory loss is the predominant symptom, it is termed "amnestic MCI" and is frequently seen as a prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease.

 

If he does indeed have some sort of age related cognitive impairment, this is likley to get worse during his presidency. And with this other personality traits could be very problematic.

Absolutely. He is narcissistic, but way too much stuff has been pre-emped. The media is so opinionated, and they are not reporting the facts anymore.

 

Look at facts, Trump will flip-flop on a lot of stuff he promised basically because its not possible to achieve it all. As for the whole nuclear weapons debate, the problem has already been there, and Russia are talking about strengthening their arsenal because there are a LOT of problems in Russia at the moment, and Putin is worried about losing his power.

 

Do some research from somewhere that is not going Trump is going to start WW3 because he is a narcissist and wants to grab women by the p***y.

AS for Trump like any president I don't think he would use them unless he had no other options. He is just saying they need to modernize their arsenal, do I like it, not particularly. And yes it is somewhat concerning, however I believe he doesn't want a nuclear war of any sort.

 

He is going to shake up China though, and I wouldn't be surprised if we are in for a volatile economy for at least the next 4-6 years, so I would start winding back any risky investments. 

 

 

Check out some recent clips of Trump shown on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. 

 

In those clips, taken on Trumps "Thank you" tour.....Trump is seen musing on the various strategies and slogans that he saw as helping him win. He makesit very clear he was just saying things to gain advantage and didn't have any prior - or even real - commitment to them (or clear understanding of what they actually might mean in practice).

Like "drain the swamp". His advisors told him to say it. He said it. Wow! A reaction. He said it again....and again...and kept saying because of the reaction. He obviously had no idea what it might mean in practice. Hadn't given it a moment's thought. He goes on about other elements.....just manipulative marketing slogans. 

He's telling the audience he played them......and it's all rubbish. 

They clap......

This is bad enough if you're selling a hotel development to investors.....but for the elected head of state to be a liar and cheat....well....you can defend that if you like, but you'd be one more fool among many if you did.

Yup - that's right.  Being associated with the KKK would be very bad for the public image.

 

Trump is a bigot and "birther" - but ultimately he's a marketing man.

I don't think so.  He's been a public figure, there's a record of his behaviour and comments going back a few decades.  If you were looking to diagnose, then you'd be looking for signs of behavioral change and cognitive decay.  Thing is that he's been consistent.  Consistently misogynistic, narcissistic, untruthful and sociopathic - for decades.

Immigration to New Zealand from America and Britain has skyrocketed in the wake of Trump and Brexit. According to RNZ, visits to the immigration website have jumped 2500% since the American election. 

 

Personally, I belong to the camp that sees Trump as a fool who got lucky. I don't think he is particularly bright or clever. At any other time in history, I think he would have disappeared in the primaries. He is vain, ignorant and easy to manipulate. This will be a good thing if those with influence over him have more common sense than he does and keep him from going completely off the rails. It will be bad if they decide instead to abuse their positions.

Too much credibility given to Trumps power. GOP will run the show, he will show himself up often. Backtrack as he has done, make a fool of himself. All this talk of WW3 is silly. He doesn't have the power that past dictators had, he has no political knowledge or will. The world isn't scared, they are all gathered in the corner giggling. As he says his stupid stuff, to the enemies, non friends, and friends that p$ss them off, the US credibility will continue to drop, ideal excuse for countries to back away, Trump is a great excuse. For US influence in this world, he is a ticking time bomb, figuratively, and he will not make America Great Again, he will make America less and less important. I imagine a few countries will be ok with that.

Supporters? They are history, not needed. Neither are the non supporters. Tweets like that make the world laugh. He and this's the US will be managed by the rest of the world, those first world countries with influence. It will be senior students running round chasing the loud mouthed junior student away. Moving him in the direction they want, by manipulating his inexperience and mouth before brain issues. The GOP can internally manage him, but they have no influence over the population that matters, the other 7 billion of us

If Trump's twitter feed is an example, I don't think "the GOP" has got much chance of taming Trump.
Un-presidential, unfactual nonsense being spurted out on a regular basis.
I'm very biased, as I think he's basically evil and dangerous, but replies to his tweets are almost entirely negative and condemning, the best that his supporters seem to be able to come up with are inane memes featuring "liberal tears".  Arguments claiming that he's not lying are thoroughly flamed by facts.

 

His dirty filthy lying tactics using Twitter clearly worked during his campaign, but I doubt they are working now. He's coming across as a petulant immature brat.
