45 pages of indictment.
So how many parallel court cases against T does that make now?

It just amazing that they are going into another election cycle and the Fraudulent Electors are still walking around free.

kingdragonfly: Trump's lawyers in action

Trump's a complete amateur compared to Netanyahu though. He's going to destroy his entire country's democratic system just to save his own skin.

Innocent until proven guilty.

If convicted he will probably be let off a prison sentence by Biden.

The NY Times - The indictment says Trump had six co-conspirators in his efforts to retain power.

01 July 2023

The indictment of former President Donald J. Trump mentions - but does not identify by name - six co-conspirators who prosecutors say worked with him in seeking to overturn the 2020 election.

It is not clear why the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith, decided to seek only Mr. Trump’s indictment for now, though it is possible that some of the co-conspirators could still face charges in the weeks ahead. ...

Among those people central to the inquiry were Rudolph W. Giuliani, a lawyer who oversaw Mr. Trump’s attempts to claim the election was marred by widespread fraud; John Eastman, a law professor who provided the legal basis to overturn the election by manipulating the count of electors to the Electoral College; Sidney Powell, a lawyer who pushed Mr. Trump to use the military to seize voting machines and rerun the election; Jeffrey Clark, a Justice Department official at the time; and Kenneth Chesebro and James Troupis, lawyers who helped flesh out the plan to use fake electors pledged to Mr. Trump in states that were won by President Biden.

EDIT:  The Washington Post lists:  Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Jeffrey Clark, Kenneth Chesebro, and "a political consultant" as co-conspirators.

I'm confused, you're saying the above statement is by Joe Biden but includes:

...his candidacy means less attention paid to Joe Biden's disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to a pattern of corruption with Hunter."

That's an odd thing for Biden to say. What am I missing?

I just knew it would only be a matter of time until Trump threw his "lawyers" (Eastman, Rudy, etc) under the bus, all in the name of saving his own skin.

Sorry Donnie, I don't think your defense of "I barely knew him" [Eastman] or "I hardly knew him" when he was talking to you almost daily is going to fly this time.

HALF OF ALL G.O.P. VOTERS WANT PARTY TO NOMINATE SOME OTHER CRIMINAL INSTEAD OF TRUMP

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Although Donald J. Trump holds a commanding lead over the rest of the Republican Presidential field, approximately half of all G.O.P. voters wish that their party would choose a different criminal, a new poll indicates.

“No disrespect to Donald Trump, who has been an amazing perpetrator,” Carol Foyler, a poll respondent who lives in Tempe, Arizona, said. “But it would be great to see a fresh crook in there.”

“When he was President, Trump committed crimes at an incredible rate,” Tracy Klugian, who resides in Columbus, Ohio, said. “But he’s older now, and I worry that he won’t be able to keep up that pace.”

“Don’t get me wrong, Donald Trump deserves major credit for all the laws he’s broken,” Harland Dorrinson, who lives in Springfield, Missouri, said. “But it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of felons.”

Streamed at 10 am till 1pm NZ time

Judge appointed was "luck of the draw". There is no judge in Washington DC that would have been good for Trump. Even conservative judges appointed by Trump have been giving stiff sentences.

But the one he got was appointed by Obama, and has handed down the strongest sentence against January 6 traitors.

This is a condensed version of a long opinion piece.  The writer is a former chief of the fraud and public corruption section at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

The NY Times - Opinion - What Makes Jack Smith’s New Trump Indictment So Smart

02 August 2023

The catalog of misdeeds that Donald Trump is accused of is extensive ... but this case is by far the most consequential. ...

The beauty of this indictment is that it provides three legal frameworks that prosecutors can use to tell the same story.

It will allow prosecutors to put on a compelling case that will hold Mr. Trump fully accountable for the multipronged effort to overturn the election. At the same time, it avoids legal and political pitfalls that could have delayed or derailed the prosecution. ...

Count 1 [under 18 U.S.C. Section 371] charges a conspiracy to defraud the United States by obstructing and defeating the lawful counting of votes and certification of the election. Conspiracy is the perfect vehicle for describing a complex criminal scheme and identifying all the actors and everything they did.

The conspiracy charge, which makes up most of the indictment, encompasses the tentacles of the scheme to overturn the election results. Pressuring state officials to overturn their elections, recruiting slates of fake electors from seven states, trying to corrupt the Justice Department to further the scheme, pressuring Mike Pence to throw out lawful votes and directing the mob to the Capitol on Jan. 6 - all are included as part of a single overarching conspiracy to defraud the United States.

A conspiracy requires two or more people who agree to participate. This indictment lists but does not yet charge or formally identify six Trump co-conspirators. Mr. Smith clearly has enough evidence to charge those unindicted co-conspirators but has chosen not to - for now. This, too, is a smart tactical decision.

Proceeding against Mr. Trump alone streamlines the case and gives Mr. Smith the best chance for a trial to be held and concluded before the 2024 presidential election.

It’s possible some of the unindicted co-conspirators will cut a deal and testify for the prosecution. If not, there is plenty of time to charge them later.

Counts 2 and 3 are conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and obstruction of a proceeding, under 18 U.S.C. Section 1512. Prosecutors have successfully used this statute to charge hundreds of the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters ...

Count 4 is a civil rights violation under 18 U.S.C. Section 241. That statute makes it a crime to “injure, oppress, threaten or intimidate” any people in their exercise and enjoyment of rights guaranteed by the Constitution or laws. ...
