Policies have been made pretty clear during the election run-up (Except the ones they overstepped on and had to backtrack on). They have already said there are very few changes. "Poor woman"? Give me a break!

What I'd like to see is the baseline taken today of what the stats are in the country and see if in a year, or two, how many of those stats have improved.

What are your measures? GDP? Taxation? CEO wage rises? Number of homeless people? Children in poverty? School drop-outs? Wealth disparity? Number of cows? There are lots of stats to choose from.

All of the above and more.

There should be agreed measures that all parties agree to be measured by so that accountability can be had. Fat chance of getting everyone to agree.

Just give them a chance. If they stuff it up, they stuff it up. Nothing they do is going to cause more damage than National has done. The country won't die from it. You can always turf them out at the next election if enough people agree with you. That is why we live in a democracy.

Did you give Trump a chance? Did you let him have a year and then assess him? Nope, you were into him before he had taken office and haven't let up since.

They could potentially do a lot of damage, it's a shame you don't want to see that. But I guess so long as there is a dope referendum, everything will be ok, because that is the biggest issue in NZ right now.

The only tangible difference to me is that under a Nat Govt, I would have gotten an additional $20/wk in the hand than I will under labour. Arguably, I don't "need" the tax cut, but it could have meant more debt repayment or possibly more consumerism on my part, but as we aren't struggling to put food on the table, I'm not overly passionate about it.

I see Arderns biggest challanges will be how she manages the makeup of the new Govt, keeping Peters close enough to be useful but not so close as to actually stiffle anything that she wants "her" Govt to achieve. It won't take much prodding from the opposition to drive a wedge through the paper thin alliance of NZ First and The Greens, so this will also require strong leadership.

It will be interesting to see if in 12-24 months time, all those Labour / Greens supporters crowing about how much better life will be under Labour / Greens are actually any better off, or, if there will simply be another excuse why their life is so tough.

I just cant stand her TV face, everytime she is on, I keep thinking of a smiling horse with those big teeth of hers

Nothing he has done or said since then has altered that assessment in the slightest. He is a truly vile human being and his election was a tragic mistake, if not an anomaly. I find it inconceivable that you think the two can be compared in any way.

Only in so far as you didn't get him a chance in the slightest, which is what you are suggesting we do to Labour.

She's going to discover and be, what every other politician has discovered and become...

Leader/part of a system that never really changes because it's so broken and bloated and slow and corrupt, right down to your local council and street sweeper.

Even the smallest of political tools are just looking out for themselves and their friends. The street sweeper will do out the front of his friends place more often for beers, the ministers do things for lobbyists.

Happens in every country.

Take Obama and "Change"... How did that go? Once he was "the man", he realised nothing was going to change. That's why he went grey so quickly. He did what he could, but look how that's going now.

She'll do what she can, and them blame everyone else when she can't or wont. Just like all politicians.

Hard not to laugh (or Cry). Education and Healthcare was something that JA harped on like a record stuck on repeat. She made sure everyone know how bad it was to get healthcare and even wheeled her Grandad out was supposedly mistreated due to lack of resources. Now I see they have, as part of the NZF negotiations taken $1B from their healthcare and Education funds, to promote the regions.
