As with anyone leaving a job to go to another it is a private issue unless the individual decides to change that.I am not sure what the "Such dishonesty and poor ethics" is with this.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
I can't see AirNZ being influenced to appoint employees by any govt. Directors maybe (govt is shareholder) but not employed start.
And congrats to Jacinda and Clark. I hope it all goes as well as it can.

Good to see the congratulations post. You wont see that from the nasty group who control this forum.

I don't think that there is any inference that AirNZ was pressured into this. The role that Kirton has accepted is that of "Government Liaison" or something like that - a role currently filled by the partner of a sitting National MP. It just demonstrates a level of political savvy on the part of our National carrier IMHO.
The ethics being called into question are really those surrounding the departure of the likely fallguy for Labour's appalling handling of the sexual assaults and underage drinking at their youth camp - all under the cover of the biggest distraction that NZ politics has ever experienced.
...and on that note - congratulations indeed to Miss Ardern and Mr Gayford. Parenthood is life-changing. I hope they both embrace it :-)
MikeB4:Pumpedd:Now that the staffing cap on the public service is lifted watch it blow out.
Clearly this government is so focused on helping the less advantaged people they are falling over themselves.
A number of the key departments and agencies are understaffed. Cannot help folks if you don't have the resources to do so.

Better to stick to the facts. A party guy who probably had no immediate future with his party after attempting badly to protect the image of that party (edit: might be a bit harsh maybe it was failing to respond appropriately) gets a government liason job in a government owned company. Looks pretty dodgy to me. I'm unsure if it's any more dodgy than the last appointment who was a member of Key's dept of the prime minister. Looks like one of those revolving door jobs. I wonder if it's really neccessary or a good look for the corporation.
Also pretty funny Kirton referring to air nz as a great progressive company when their executive team looks like it's above a glass ceiling: https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/executive . They have had a few awards for inclusion maybe they deserve them can't tell.
Air NZ are likely to come under some pressure to make sure the next exec hires reflect that I would think.
ANZ has gone down in my books even considering this appointment. Bad decision...unless they had no choice.
@Pumpedd why wouldn't they have a choice?
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
