Dishonest Labour trying to sneak this in whilst everyone (some) are distracted by Labours Labour.

Such dishonesty and poor ethics.

As with anyone leaving a job to go to another it is a private issue unless the individual decides to change that.I am not sure what the "Such dishonesty and poor ethics" is with this.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I can't see  AirNZ being influenced to appoint employees by any govt.  Directors maybe (govt is shareholder) but not employed start.

And congrats to Jacinda and Clark.  I hope it all goes as well as it can.

I don't think that there is any inference that AirNZ was pressured into this.  The role that Kirton has accepted is that of "Government Liaison" or something like that - a role currently filled by the partner of a sitting National MP.  It just demonstrates a level of political savvy on the part of our National carrier IMHO.

The ethics being called into question are really those surrounding the departure of the likely fallguy for Labour's appalling handling of the sexual assaults and underage drinking at their youth camp - all under the cover of the biggest distraction that NZ politics has ever experienced.

...and on that note - congratulations indeed to Miss Ardern and Mr Gayford.  Parenthood is life-changing.  I hope they both embrace it :-)

Now that the staffing cap on the public service is lifted watch it blow out.

Clearly this government is so focused on helping the less advantaged people they are falling over themselves.

A number of the key departments and agencies are understaffed. Cannot help folks if you don't have the resources to do so.

I guess it's a matter of priorities. E.g. if staff numbers at a 'key' department rises (let's insert MSD there) then they obviously consider that more important than the extra police they promised etc.

I don't doubt that some agencies are understaffed for what this government expects of them, however, there a horrible mis-match between what the government promised and what their apparent priorities are now they're in government.

If Winston can draw a distinct line between views he expresses as a private citizen and a government minister, then it's not hard to draw a distinction between Jacinda's performance as a mother and as PM.

Wonderful news for Ms adern, but this thread is about the right honourable Jacinda.

I don't want to sound 'horrible' but seeing as that's the part I've been given to play in this forum I'll do my best lol.

Better to stick to the facts. A party guy who probably had no immediate future with his party after attempting badly to protect the image of that party (edit: might be a bit harsh maybe it was failing to respond appropriately) gets a government liason job in a government owned company. Looks pretty dodgy to me. I'm unsure if it's any more dodgy than the last appointment who was a member of Key's dept of the prime minister. Looks like one of those revolving door jobs. I wonder if it's really neccessary or a good look for the corporation.

Also pretty funny Kirton referring to air nz as a great progressive company when their executive team looks like it's above a glass ceiling: https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/executive . They have had a few awards for inclusion maybe they deserve them can't tell.

Air NZ are likely to come under some pressure to make sure the next exec hires reflect that I would think.

ANZ has gone down in my books even considering this appointment. Bad decision...unless they had no choice.

Have seen or heard all of my headline predictions within 12 hours of the birth. Not from the Women's Mags though, from the mainstream media. Someone standing outside Auckland Hospital talking about what the PM had to eat (sorry can't bring myself to think of Winny as the PM even though he officially is) IS NOT NEWS.
