Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
That sounds more like something former National MP Aaron Gilmore would do (and indeed, did: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/local-body-elections/129679744/the-apartment-owners-who-wish-they-didnt-know-aaron-gilmore?rm=a) but hopefully this story is wrong...

The NY Times - The Supreme Court Ends Affirmative Action
The decision sharply curtails a policy that has long been a pillar of American higher education.

The NY Times - Opinion - No One Can Stop Rupert Murdoch. That’s Increasingly a Problem.
July 4, 2023
What do we make of Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old patriarch of the Fox Corporation, at this moment?
We are post-Trump I but possibly on the precipice of Trump II.
We are past the whopping $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems but awaiting the denouement of a similar case brought by Smartmatic.
We are past the departure of Tucker Carlson and his sky-high ratings, but we are still waiting to see how the new evening lineup will fare in the increasingly cutthroat world of partisan cable television news.
Where once upon a time kings controlled their empires through vast landholdings, armies and pledges of fealty, Mr. Murdoch controls his corporate empire through the ownership of a special class of stock that gives him the largest voting stakes in his two main companies, the Fox Corporation and News Corp ...
As a result, there doesn’t seem to be anyone or anything at either company that can keep Mr. Murdoch from doing what he wants. ...

Aw, the deplorable wannabe lawyer looks so sad and depressed now his crimes are finally catching up with him. Not so cocky with your ridiculous cowboy hat speaking before a group of thugs anymore, are we?
PS: your idol Trump - who you placed your legal career on the line for - doesn't give a flying f--k about you 😀

The NY Times - Giuliani Should Lose His Law License in D.C., Bar Panel Says
07 July 2023
A legal ethics committee in Washington that oversaw a disciplinary case late year against Rudolph W. Giuliani recommended on Friday that he be disbarred for his “unparalleled” attempts to overturn the 2020 election in favor of his client at the time, President Donald J. Trump. ...
“He claimed massive election fraud but had no evidence of it,” the panel wrote. “By prosecuting that destructive case Mr. Giuliani, a sworn officer of the court, forfeited his right to practice law.”

The Guardian - Opinion - Has Trump really turned on Kari Lake, one of his loudest cheerleaders?
8 July
Kari Lake’s career goes bung
Let’s say you want to be vice-president of the United States but you don’t have any meaningful political experience and you’ve never held public office. What do you do?
For most normal people, the answer would be to build your political career gradually. ...
But Kari Lake, a self-described “election-denying deplorable” who has helped boost conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines and once called Anthony Fauci an “evil elf”, is not like most normal people.
Her two-pronged strategy for rising to the top of the political world?
1) Say as many bigoted and outlandish things as possible, in a bid to generate headlines.
2) Become Donald Trump’s loudest lapdog. ...
Lake has positioned herself as Trump’s biggest cheerleader, proclaiming her devotion to the former president at every opportunity ...
Alas, it seems that Lake may have flown just a little too close to the sun. Despite her sycophancy, there are reports that Trump has soured on his protege.
His newfound objections? Lake likes the limelight too much, apparently. ... When Trump thinks you’re too thirsty for attention, that’s really saying something.
