Defending the rights of stupid frat boys to behave like stupid frat boys (within the law) doesn't necessitate joining in with their "harmless fun".

He was fully aware that he was beating his meat.

Probably as he couldn't get any fresh meat.

Him pretending innocence - that he didn't know exactly what was going on - is lame.

But he's always had the naive innocence of some school kid who was given a copy of Atlas Shrugged and thought of it as a definitive, life-changing bible.

I don't by any means agree with the views, policies or values of all the minor political parties in NZ, but I strongly support the principle of a broad spread of representation in parliament, which along with moderating the power of the major parties, also represents the minority views from the population. That is a fundamental principle of MMP (ironically the same electoral system that National supporters are said not understand).

It doesn't necessarily work flawlessly, nevertheless, it generally does produce a more balanced government.

The ACT party should be an example to the Green, who sold out cheap on their voter base choosing to play second-fiddle to NZF despite being equally pivotal in the arrangements.
