Dratsab:

Very alarming if this is even close to true...

But if the LBGT rise and resist... He could be a very short term president.

I'm sure there's probably even a crazy few that are up there with you're usual "red state crazies" that might even attempt to "end" him.

It's becoming even more nuts than I expected.

I probably has a financial interest in it too, as I can't see him signing a deal where he didn't get ongoing benefits. For many of these TV shows, the actors earn good money for many years after the show has ended with syndication deals.

I'd say the only thing that Trump would put above his financial interests is his ego. I'm sure he'd rather see it fail, than get the continued cash flow of it succeeding without him.

Trump slagging Schwarzenegger will only bring publicity for the show. That is exactly what Trump intends.

Schwarzenegger has responded in kind. Ratings will now increase.

Trump will never and in all likelihood has never put anything above his financial interests.

Interestingly, whilst everyone has been foaming at the mouth over a temporary travel ban, Austria has banned full face veils in public spaces and introduced an "integration contract" for migrants and no one has batted an eyelid...!

But we are talking about the largest and most powerful country in the world banning people. The other is a tiny country, and it isn't the same as banning people.  I also believe there are other countries that have banned veils in public spaces. In NZ they also ban people wearing hoods in some public places, so it isn't unusual for there to be dress codes. Some of this has to do with security, so faces aren't hidden on camera. The thing is that we do now live in a very different world.

We are not talking about anybody banning anything. We are talking about a temporary hiatus whilst a sovereign nation pauses and decides what processes and procedures it wishes to put in place.

It's not a unique idea - six of the seven countries on the US list ban Israeli citizens from entering, for example. The British imposed movement restrictions on the Irish. etc.

The reaction is mad. The idea isn't.

That's the alternative fact that Trump's people are trying to use to defuse the reaction. But it's not true.

What they claimed was that it was a delay in processing of visas. However, people who already had visas (i.e. no processing needed) were banned.

Sobering stuff. Maybe social networking sites outside the USA like Geekzone will have a role in keeping truth alive and combatting the troll armies.

But he did ban them, ask the many who were stranded, some detained in custody. Like managing anything, plan it. Dont detain people on day one, allow for that initial implementation.

Trump doesnt care what people say or think...he only cares for himself. Its a circus and is going to touch us all in a bad way unless the American people stand up to him and create anarchy.

War on Truth

The final paragraph of a three-page article:

It's also too early to risk falling foul of the corollary of Godwin's Law that holds whoever makes a Hitler comparison loses the argument, but Trump's methodology is reminiscent of Hitler's theory of the big lie, specifically the tactic of lying your head off while accusing your opponents of lying. Thus Trump dubbed his main Republican opponent Ted Cruz "Lyin' Ted" while pushing a gossamer-thin supermarket tabloid story claiming Cruz's father met Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the Kennedy assassination. Similarly, his false claims about Obama's birthplace, the American economy, the crime rate and the state of inner cities follow the Nazi blueprint: make it big, keep it simple, keep saying it and eventually they'll believe it. As Joseph Goebbels, the Third Reich's Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda and the prime theoretician of the black art, put it: "A lie told once remains a lie. A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth." The lies will keep coming because Trump's ego, authoritarian instincts, political brand and stated goal of overturning the established order demand that he presents himself as a 21st-century man on horseback who will save the republic from "American carnage"...
