I think you're probably right but right now it's Trump vs Judge in numerous courts. Anything could happen.

I realise I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself here, but what would a (potential) President Haley be like? She obviously has some foreign policy experience, but what about everything else?

i said 2 years ago that either Trump is in jail or Trump is the next POTUS. he claims however he can still run if he's in jail. i have a feeling he's going to seize current world events for his gain.

hope i'm wrong however, but that's how i see it.

https://www.axios.com/2023/11/05/trump-leads-biden-poll-nyt >> this is quite worrying for the Democrats, if accurate. Hopefully Joe can pull a rabbit out of the hat, or something, and make things swing in the other direction.

Joe and his administration are looking more like losers every day. Tries to stick the USA's nose into the Middle East and everyone ignores them.

If Biden loses the world loses. Americans are sleepwalking into a repeat of January 1933. Trump has already made his intentions perfectly clear regarding weaponising the justice system and dismantling the Constitution.

This is going to sound awfully callous of me, especially given I have family there - but if Americans are really that stupid to elect the orange buffoon again to do...um...? (what exactly will he do for the average American?), then they really deserve all they get 😠

Interesting comments from a US political commentator on the BBC this morning.

  1. Trump's fellow Republican contenders eg Nicky Haley actually poll better than him in the swing states that show him beating Biden.
  2. If Trump is convicted of trying to overturn the last election a significant number of his supporters will not vote for him. No wonder he wants to delay the trial.

Re point 2, I dunno on that one - he has shown that he can do almost any damn thing he wants and they will still (for some reason) walk through fire for him, even though he couldn't care less about them. Oh, unless he wants their votes, of course.

Finally some encouraging news from the USA. I am watching the election coverage on CNN and it looks like the voices of reason (relatively speaking, of course) are moving ahead. The Democrat incumbent governor of Kentucky is probably coming back and constitutional abortion looks like passing in Ohio. Democrats may triumph in Virginia representatives and Democrat Presley could even have a chance in Mississippi!

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/11/11/politics/robert-kennedy-rfk-2024-election-outcome/index.html >> looks at Robert Kennedy being a possible spoiler for both Biden and Trump in next year's election.

Mind you, it's still a year away, and a lot can happen in that time.
