For those following the ascension of Trump to politics, the god-like status he's got with evangelicals, the hoaxes and lies spread through the Q cult, you would see early on the crowds here were being manipulated and slowly being groomed to get to this point.

These are the useful idiots.

A section of a message to the media from *someone* in a protest leadership circle:

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2022/02/coronavirus-wellingtonians-say-anti-mandate-protest-a-complete-denial-of-the-risk-of-covid.html

From a neighbour near the protest:

"If it was a more nuanced protest around mandates, you'd see people wearing masks. The reality is there's nobody wearing masks there.

"It's a complete denial of the risk of COVID whatsoever, which is really concerning. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if people were wearing masks."

The problem is to most of these dropkicks coronavirus "isn't a risk" to them so why should anyone else follow health recommendations?

Total sympathy for this poor neighbour - I used to live in Thorndon too many years ago and remember the streets being quite narrow, so it's inevitable these losers are going to broaching onto the neighbour's property. I don't think they're converting anyone over to their side by abusing people outside their group, either.

Looks like something is happening this morning, just drove in to work and noticed a lot of police activity at the end of Murphy St where buses go into the interchange, concrete blocks all set up

Finally set up a cordon, good start. Will be interesting to see how they police it or if cars just start piling up beside it. Next weekend is looking to be the main showdown with Tamaki's lot planning to do a major convoy down for their March 1st ransom date

Good point. What’s to stop newcomers parking up outside the barriers.

The Prime Minister has told them to go home. I wish they would too. It's just a matter of time now before someone there catches coronavirus, and before you know it, everyone there will have it.
Maybe they'll actually want the vaccine then?

No because it will be a false flag/biological warfare/various other manifestation of paranoid behaviour.

Protesters in Canberra who got sunburned are convinced they were targeted by a high energy radiation device.

They arguably were, it just wasn't from secret government agents using Mossad technology like they think it was.

This was hilarious - I saw a post screenshot with people showing their faces, clearly sunburnt, but still saying "the government" used a secret weapon on them.

I wonder how many cases we don't hear about in the middle of that crowd - including those who left the scene already.

We may never know. You can be sure at least one of the factions there has a vested interest in downplaying the effects of Covid especially among the unvaccinated.

Then we also have reports that based on the number of asymptomatic Covid cases discovered at places like A & E that Covid is far more prevalent in the community than the official figure indicate. If that level of infection is occurring in the community generally you can bet it's happening in the protest group as well. The ratio of asymptomatic case will be different as it appears that most of the asymptomatic cases are vaccinated but the infection rates will likely be similar.
