Winston Peters' convention speech:
http://www.nzfirst.org.nz/convention_speech_the_battle_for_new_zealand
Oh yeah - it'll be a great coalition with National.

Geektastic: Comment overheard in doctor's waiting room this morning:
"I don't know why we bothered voting. Why didn't we just ring Winston and ask him who should govern us for the next three years?"
The point is? We voted for National 45%, Labour Greens bloc whatever they got, 35 or so, and NZF 7%
So we settle for a minority Govt? That would be fun to see the Opposition pass laws and the Govt not

Look on the bright side - at least Putin or Zuckerberg didn't decide for us (I hope).
Meanwhile has anyone in the National party thought about jumping in bed with the Greens? If Bill English (or whoever runs the show at National) could see it work, something like hey you get to be the environment minister but don't touch anything else.
I wonder if politicians are closed minded or creative.

To be a poor cousin where no one talks to you, yeah right. And in Winston chose National, and they are gone in 3 years, to a 1 or 2 term Labour Govt, Greens are gone again. Any deals can be done, I prefer to look at the ability to get on, and work together.

National won't go into power with the Greens. Even if they limited the Green party to environmental concerns. Can you ever see National limiting mining? Ending oil exploration in the Maui dolphin territory? Clamping down on water regulations for farmers? Moving from coal and gas fired power generation? Stricter management of fisheries quotas? or any of a large number of other environmental policies?
They would be bottom line for the Green Party if the stuck to green ideals and dropped the social equality stuff.
Anyone suggesting otherwise is either blowing hot air or looking for words to fill out column space in a pointless opinion piece.
The Green Party campaigned for a change of Government, it would be extremely dishonest if Shaw jumped in bed with National. Their supporters would see it as a betrayal and it wouldn't surprise me if there were an internal revolt should he try.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Internal revolt of it's 3 members? lol.
Apparently moving the port is his number 1 priority. Gonna cost a LOT.

From what little I know, it frees up prime land in AKL, helps Northland economy, and can be done piece by piece, over time. Sounds good on the surface

Hmm. Winston, Putin or Zuckerberg in the deciding role?
I suppose it's (apparently) better than the voters being in the role...!

I've seen that in politics, nothing can be ruled out.
What the average voter can and can't see happening has no bearing on the inner desires of one's heart.
If Greens want to be in govt, if National wants to be in govt, you think they are not man (or woman) enough to work past their differences? Have you ever wanted something really badly in life? If you want it enough, you will make it happen. IF.

Hahaha I had to laugh at these two words. Since when Greens stood for honesty?
