This latest episode in the White House soap opera I believe has damaged the brand possibly for ever or the next 10 decades. Above all else he has shown that he has no class what so ever.

I agree. While its just another mindless tweet, I think he is over the boundaries now for his supporters. Im sure many Trump supporters are praying to give us 2 weeks off Twitter or we give up. I feel that this is the start of a more aggressive downward slide from GOP, Republicans and Trump supporters towards him. That in itself will wind him up, a good spiral to watch unfold

I wish I could agree with you, but I see no evidence of that.

Now that's clearly no great record when most of the time Trump has less than 40% support vs 55% against, however:

I don't see any particular trend apart from post inauguration honeymoon period cool-off.

I don't expect that the WH is too worried - yet.  The Republican Party has blatantly gerrymandered electorates and worked to make voting for as difficult as possible for many.  Trump's lies about voter fraud - for which he has no evidence - would go down well with the GOP, they'll want to extend that system nationwide.  That's why there's a stacked "voter fraud commission".  You don't set up such a commission when there's no credible evidence of voter fraud to begin with - there's little doubt it's set up to create an illusion that there is an issue, then "fix" that by implementing policies which you know will suppress (Democrat) voters by putting obstacles in the way of voter registration and voting.

Democracy is under attack in the USA.

And anyway - why would Trump worry about his own pig-ignorant tweet? He was elected POTUS despite "pussygate", despite misogynist rants, despite racist rants, despite lying through his teeth.

Watch the short video:  yet another Trump flip-flop ...  undecided

Trump made repeated campaign promises NOT to leave a gap in health care coverage during the changeover from "Obamacare" to "Trumpcare".

This is so good: American Dignity (The New Yorker):

Donald Trump, who, in fairness, has noted that “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job,” represents an entirely different tradition. He has no interest in the wholeness of reality. He descends from the lineage of the Know-Nothings, the doomsayers and the fabulists, the nativists and the hucksters. The thematic shift from Obama to Trump has been from “lifting as we climb” to “raising the drawbridge and bolting the door.” Trump may operate a twenty-first-century Twitter machine, but he is still a frontier-era drummer peddling snake oil, juniper tar, and Dr. Tabler’s Buckeye Pile Cure for profit from the back of a dusty wagon.

As a candidate, Trump told his followers that he would fulfill “every dream you ever dreamed for your country.” But he is a plutocrat. His loyalty is to the interests of the plutocracy. Trump’s vows of solidarity with the struggling working class, with the victims of globalization and deindustrialization, are a fraud. He made coal miners a symbol of his campaign, but he has always held them in contempt. To him, they are luckless schmoes who fail to possess his ineffable talents. “The coal miner gets black-lung disease, his son gets it, then his son,” Trump once told Playboy. “If I had been the son of a coal miner, I would have left the damn mines. But most people don’t have the imagination—or whatever—to leave their mine. They don’t have ‘it.’ ”

Trump is hardly the first bad President in American history—he has not had adequate time to eclipse, in deed, the very worst—but when has any politician done so much, so quickly, to demean his office, his country, and even the language in which he attempts to speak? Every day, Trump wakes up and erodes the dignity of the Presidency a little more. He tells a lie. He tells another. He trolls Arnold Schwarzenegger. He trolls the press, bellowing “enemy of the people” and “fake news!” He shoves aside a Balkan head of state. He summons his Cabinet members to have them swear fealty to his awesomeness. He leers at an Irish journalist. Last Thursday, he tweeted at Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, of MSNBC: “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came . . . to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!” The President’s misogyny and his indecency are well established. When is it time to question his mental stability?

Here in Oz, the Labor party are further to the right on many issues than National are in NZ. Same with US Democrats

Most states - at least the ones with significant populations - are refusing to cooperate with the voter fraud commission. It looks to be dead in the water.

They don't need to have cooperation to reach conclusions.  In fact - non-cooperation has already led to claims that there's "something to hide" (regardless of legitimate legal reasons why some states are not providing data).

The POTUS and some   many of his administration are conspiracy theorists already.

As bad as this soap opera is I believe that Trump will see his term out and there is probably a 50/50 chance that he will be re-elected in 2020.

Trump is demeaning the office of the Presidency. He is an international embarrassment. He is doing real damage to the reputation of the United States. So far he hasn't had an opportunity to make significant tactical decisions but if that happens, his pettiness, lack of self-control, bad judgement, ignorance, vanity, nastiness and oafishness have the potential to trigger a real catastrophe. Even some Republicans realise this. Many Americans are now just trying to figure how they can make it to the next election without a complete melt-down. Massage his ego, don't provoke him, try to stay out of the way, do what anyone else trapped in a domestic abuse situation does, just try to avoid eruptions or outbursts until help arrives.

At the rate things are going I doubt he will see out his term. If he does, he will not win the next election. Which is not to say his opponent won't lose it. The Democrats are a corrupt and spent force. Is America capable of following the French example and raising a new political movement from the ashes? All things, I suppose, are possible.

How we see it means nothing for 2020, all it needs is the majority in key states to see Trump as the best candidate and he does not need a majority nationally . As for seeing his way to 2020 the Republicans are the only ones that can do that and it requires a good number of them to jump ship and vote with the Democrats for an impeachment move to succeed or an majority of Republicans to vote a "not fit for office" vote neither of these I see happening.

If it was any first-world democracy - apart from America - I'd say you're dreaming.

Unfortunately for the rest of the world, you could be right.

Although one thing sorely missing is a leader and potential 2020 candidate for the Democrats.  That's IMO a very silly move, as Trump had already taken the (AFAIK) unprecedented step of officially launching his own 2020 campaign a few days after he was elected.  So he's running $35,000 / plate fundraising dinners - hosted of course in Trump premises - milking it all ways.  A beautiful way for his clique of dodgy but wealthy supporters to screw the American public.

Rikkitic: The Democrats are a corrupt and spent force.

Corruption is relative, and the democratic party is far from a spent force.

The tweet is new. Polls take time. IMHO, this tweet is bugger all to me, who cares, but its the start of breaking the camels back IMHO. You are right, but i cant wait for a poll in one week. At some point, his tweets will stop being "Oh thats ok it's only what he does" to "WTF" Maybe that time is now, and good on the media couple to push it. That may allow more Repubs and GOP to push it. When there is a consensus on GOP that most want Trump out, that is the beginning of the end. Whether that is doable or not, I dunno. I looked at the Constitution at the Lincoln Memorial but did not read it all :-) But if not doable, that the public know there is a majority of senators want him out, I can see big momentum there.

This is like water building up on a beaver dam. Boring. But then it lets go.

The latest from Washington Post: Trump's idea is to repeal Obamacare now and vote a new healthcare bill later.

These people have no consideration at all for poor people. Whoever voted for him thinking he was going to work for them had a misguided, dumb idea, of life.

IIRC there were about 20 odd million benefiting from Obamacare. And recently I am sure I read, 20 odd million will lose out with TrumpCare.

Interesting call. I saw him out in 12 months after election, yet he has done so much worse than I could imagine, although nothing real, just being an idiot to everyone who is not white and old. But he is still there. The longer he is there, the less the US is. He is not now leader of the free world, he is leader of a country of 300 million, end of story. China and Europe is where its at. They arent angels, but they are normal.

I agree mainly. But the worlds strength is that some are direct and oppose him, example the media couple this week. He explodes. They criticise him, and he cannot handle that. Great tactics, if it is a tactic. I feel it is, as the media know how to prod the bull. Then the bull attacks, and puts himself in deeper sh^t. I can see that happening more the next two weeks. Good tactic. Provoke him, which as you say, isn't really happening, but it is now. Thats targeting his weak spot.

Example, say this was John Key. he would give a 20 second media bite, dilute it away, and smile all through it.

But I'm happy the T man hasn't spent 6 months destroying everything, he's been destroying himself. USA? GOP? Probably not as once they out him, they will probably look good.
