Qatar has official "major non-nato ally" status with the USA. Qatar has provided neutral ground for contact with Hamas for a long time. Israel itself has supported Hamas using Qatar as an intermediary for a long time. It is well known and not a controversial statement. In recent years Netanyahu has been criticized for doing that by various Israeli opposition. After October 7 Netanyahu then very quickly switched to a 'blame Qatar' strategy because Arabs Arabs Arabs or something similarly nuts. Like Trump Mr Netanyahu is not great at accepting any kind of responsibility for anything at all and quick to avoid it by turning and pointing in random directions.

Israeli government invites Tommy Robinson to visit Israel

As if the reputation of Israel's current government could fall no lower. The Israeli government minister for Jewish Diaspora Amichai Chikli has invited the racist and anti-islamic activist Tommy Robinson to visit Israel. Robinson has accepted. The invitation has been widely condemned by mainstream UK Jewish groups:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tommy-robinson-israeli-jewish-british-minister-b2839489.html

While consistent with Netanyahu, imo Amichai Chikli is clearly aiming to boost his profile on the right at any cost in an effort to head the governing Likud party when Netanyahu is eventually deposed or convicted of corruption. Chikli has previously aligned with Israeli far right parties in threats to resign over hostage negotiations.

To me, this is not just a recent breaking news issue, its very much a line in the sand. The Middle East has long been a problematic situation. These days less so, except for this topic. Potential here to be a breakthrough. Or not.

I dont live there, as an outsider looking in via various media, I have my own opinion. At least one of us in GZ lives there.

I am interested as to what we see, from afar or not so far.

I am in favour of a Palestinian State, similar opinion of Ukraine, let an independent state take care of itself. Obviously Ukraine as an independent state isnt the same as Palestine, but at the core, it is

Hamas is now publicly executing everyone they deem is/were against Hamas; very shortly everyone left alive in Gaza are Hamas.

More accurately as Israeli and international news says:

YNet: Hours after hostage release, Hamas terrorists publicly execute militia members in Gaza. The executions came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump said during his flight to Israel on Air Force One that he had given Hamas approval to manage internal security in Gaza 'as it sees fit'

As encouraging as this deal is the situation is far from resolved, regardless of Trump's self-congratulatory world tour. Of course the serious people know that. Ugh, must be really vomit-inducing to have to be the better person and flatter the orange toad to keep him on side in order to save lives.

And Israel is reducing the trucks carrying food and aid. 2 of the 4 routes are closed, so down to 300 per day, 600 needed according to UNICEF

You might want to include their reasoning for it as its not arbitrary.

Apparently Hamas is not handing over all of the hostages, specifically the dead ones, so breaking the agreement.

The United States and other parties to the negotiations were well aware the task of recovering remains from the rubble in the destruction would be difficult and time consuming under the conditions. During the original negotiations Hamas requested more time for the return of remains for that reason. I expect that is one of the many items that Trump chose to ignore before making his announcement. This issue was entirely predictable.

The International Red Cross has commented on the situation today:

Big Trump news was more important than common sense, that would have made the big news a little later but more robust, a few more boxes ticked

Something that i would have expected to be honest, yes, we will get you the bodies, but finding and digging them out might take some time.

Seems like something that should have been taken into account with negotiating the 72hr deadline, would have made sense.
