US War Department Anti-Fascist newsreel from 1943:
SaltyNZ: But the nutjobs are all *for* Trump. They're not going to assassinate him.
Perhaps they will if he denounces them.
Fred99:
Pumpedd:
Its all nothing new....racism is as old as civilisation is and will never be removed. It can and should be controlled/legislated but will always be present. What is new is social media and the real media feeding the frenzy on top of an insane POTUS.
That's not true - and in any case pessimistic / defeatist.
Evil leaders have long known the potential to garner support by identifying a "common enemy", racism is a consequence of tribalism.
It didn't take social media to incite or provoke or aggravate racism either. There's nothing new in Trump's actions - it's all very much early 20th century.
I see you highlighted Pumpedd comments and replied "That's not true" (highlighted by me).
You say that "It didn't take social media to incite or provoke or aggravate racism either."
But it does. Social media incites racism so much faster than our parents and grand parents could have ever imagined. Trumps actions 20th century? He is no different to you and I, either condemning or defending him. He loves social media and knows that it is easy to get a bite.

My comment "that's not true" was directed at the comment that "racism is as old as civilisation and will never be removed".
There's no evidence of racism in the history of early civilisation but plenty to the contrary, there are records of different races being present in society, but not that any race was considered superior/inferior to another.
Just as Mecca don't condemn terrorists, Trump doesn't condemn white supremacists. MAGA!
dclegg:
Fred99:
Wonder what white Supremacists think about Trump?
And from the same despicable low lifes. I purposely haven't linked to the website, as I don't want to be driving traffic there.
And it's good night from them:
gzt: Pence goes further than Trump. Pence says white supremacists and nazis have no place in the American debate: (1:10)
In the circumstances Trump should go further and say he does not want the support of these nazis and supremacists at all. I'd like to see it but I don't think it will happen. I'm picking some slight variation on his usual 'i disavow I disavow ok?' + 'Clinton and Obama were worse ok?'
"No place in the American debate." I'd argue that's pretty weak in and of itself.

The father of the accused has published a letter denouncing him (link to Reddit comment, not sure where original is - Facebook, I think). His father is doing more than the so-called President.

New Trump propaganda ad (Warning, you might need a bucket handy):
Meanwhile ........... CNN US at 7.30 this morning.
freitasm: Trump came after two days saying is against this evil. It took too long and it is too little.
GoDaddy booted the Nazi site, they moved to Google registry services, they got cancelled. These companies are doing more than the so-called President. And they are doing very little compared to what he could do.
It's still up and running - and as vile as ever.
Still hosted by Google apparently.
Registrant name now directs to a Canadian domain privacy service.
The claimed hack by Anonymous appears to have been a hoax - presumably an attempt to drive visits to the site.

OK - this statistic from Alexa is interesting:
Which sites did people visit immediately before this site? (the nazi site referred to above)
Site Percent of Unique Visits 1. google.com 11.7% 2. youtube.com 9.4% 3. facebook.com 3.2% 4. twitter.com 2.5% 5. reddit.com 2.1%
I'm not sure about social media's role. Of course we all get an extremely biased view of what's going on out there - not hard to guess that there's never any alt-right news to be seen on my FB page.
I suppose that in the like attracts like way it works, then if you're that way (alt-right) inclined, then you're going to be reinforced through your social media feed - but I don't know 'cause I don't see it.
The % of previous page held by google/youtube - compared to social media does make me wonder about the Alphabet motto "do the right thing". OTOH I'm also not in favour of censorship in general - especially if corporates get to decide what we do and don't see.
