The poll that Rikkitic linked, if you read it carefully, doesn't indicate the good results that some might think.

If I remember correctly, and if we are talking about the same poll, it also indicated a lift for National and commentaries have pointed out that in the normal course of things, Labour should have got a higher mark than it did at this point in time. I am aware of those things. But the main conclusion of the poll was that a majority appear to be happy with the way the ship of state is being steered at this moment, and that majority is increasing. That is what I was linking to. You and your main supporter keep going on and on about all the things Labour is doing wrong, or not doing at all, that are steering us into the iceberg. I just wanted to indicate that not everyone agrees with you. In fact, more and more people don't. So it can't be all that bad.

It is commendable that the teacher rang to apologise, but I also find it concerning that he saw this as an error. And that he doesn't want your son teaching others. If Alex knows his stuff, it fantastic for him and for the kids he is helping.

Teachers are human at the end of the day, I always teach my kids, to err is to be human, to apologise and make it right, is what makes you a Great human!

I told the teacher I wouldn't stop teaching Alex whatever he wanted to learn, but it was HIS classroom and he was within his rights as a teacher, to explain to Alex that he might actually be making it harder for the kids to learn if those kids haven't already covered the same material and ask him to stop. He seemed happy enough with that and I never heard about it again.

I have seen a lot of parents undermining teachers, I think that is terrible. If I have an issue with something a teacher has done, I take that up with them outside of kids hearing. When it comes to the kids, I want them to understand their teachers and parents are a united front.

Any teacher who asks a parent to stop teaching their child should not be teaching. I cannot accept that this happened. In all my 40+ years of teaching I have never encountered a situation like the one you mentioned. I challenge you to prove it. All teachers would be encouraging children to develop their reading and maths skills not only at school but also at home as well as their social skills. I would also challenge any teacher who may be reading this forum to say they have done this. Perhaps we need to start an education in schools forum as this is entirely irrelevant in this forum topic. ( just when it appears that the forum was staring to deal with topics of a political nature and we appeared to be getting away from personal hatred of the change of govt ) Housing issues etc

I think you misread the post. I believe the issue was not about a parent teaching his child, but about the child then teaching other children. I can see the point though I still think it is something to be applauded.

We must be seeing different things. What I get from it is that the government’s overall majority has increased and that significantly more voters than before the election think the country is headed in the right direction. I know doubt has been cast on the value of those results, but they still seem fairly positive to me.

I’m sure it’s not the whole story, but on the face of it I would be very concerned to have someone teaching maths who was trumped by a 6 year old and had to sit down and think about it before he realised that...!!

I see it as positive, or at least a pass mark to date. 1/4 dont agree, 1/4 dont know, 1/2 are happy enough. Thats not bad. Things are being done. Today was the much maligned NA. There are far more meaty things off course, but they arent sitting down patting each other on the backs. I am happy enough that things are being attended to. The 100 day goal wont be achieved, it rarely is. Im unsure if past NXZ gifts have had the 100 day goal, which is common in the US

This 100,000 house thing, They have bought land, or allocated what they have, and that will ramp up. They wont achieve the goal, but its a lofty goal in itself. Now, as I understand it, Labour will build the homes. Did National ever build homes? I took their stats as homes that were built, and obviously by builders for people.

How is JA harping on and on about something she has no say in, showing anyone she isn't a push over? It shows she doesn't know what her place is. She made her offer, it was rebuffed. Should have been the end of it.

JA's threats to play tit for tat with Australia are insane. We have a lot more to lose in playing chicken with Australia. We have enjoyed a good relationship with Australia over the past nine years, so far I would not say she has done a thing to enhance it.

On another note, apparently, our employment minister, doesn't know what the average wage in NZ is. You'd think there would be specific information each minister should have about the portfolios under her/his control.

Its a small issue, we offered, they declined.

It wont happen. The US is the buddy of all buddies.

Australia took an over aggressive stance. That goes alongside the pervasive influence that they do in our insurance, banking and finance sectors, as Oil said, always has tension. While the relationship is fine, is it that fine? We are nothing, and we get pushed around. Take Gerrys and Bills comments re the stows, Oz is aggressive and these guys response is more like, "shh, dont upset them, please" Thats we we are at. Its a small issue that gets great headlines, or it did earlier, its old news now.

The election debates had quick fire basic questions, including the average wage I recall. Most of them got most wrong, or were sorta closest almost. I dint read much into any of that. They all should have known more, but as one of them stated, they deal on a higher level than the many intricate facts and figures.

Come on! What is more basic than knowing the average wage as the employment minister? I don't consider it intricate facts and figures. I'd imagine this should be a banner on your wall, because it's a measure of your success and or failure, along with unemployment rate and the minimum wage.

It's disgraceful he didn't know it.

It's hard not to feel your recent comments aren't at least a little bit confirmation bias. Even hardcore Labour supporters I know are cringing and facepalming right now.

Labours slogan should actually have been "Let's Google this!" :) Let's hope the internet doesn't go down at the beehive or Labour won't know how to do anything :)

I have said it before...she should have better things to do. Surely she would have learned after what Hipkins did Australia doesnt want NZ interfering. She is mentioning Manus every time an opportunity exists.
